The RV Furniture Upholsterer is responsible for repairing, rebuilding, and upholstering furniture and interior components in recreational vehicles (RVs). This position requires experience working with a variety of fabrics, vinyl, leather, foam, and wood structures while maintaining factory-quality standards. The RV Furniture Upholsterer works closely with the service department to restore or customize furniture to meet customer expectations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Repair, recover, and reupholster RV furniture, including sofas, dinettes, recliners, captain's chairs, headboards, and cushions.
- Remove damaged upholstery and inspect frames, springs, and foam for needed repairs.
- Measure, cut, sew, and install upholstery materials including vinyl, leather, fabric, and specialty RV materials.
- Replace foam, batting, webbing, springs, and other cushioning components as needed.
- Repair or rebuild wooden furniture frames and structural components when required.
- Match existing fabrics and patterns whenever possible to maintain the original appearance.
- Perform custom upholstery modifications and customer-requested upgrades.
- Operate industrial sewing machines and upholstery tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Document repairs and communicate with service advisors regarding job status and additional repair needs.
- Follow all company safety policies and manufacturer specifications.
Requirements
- Knowledge of upholstery materials, adhesives, foam products, and repair techniques.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and move heavy furniture safely.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Produce repairs that meet or exceed manufacturer and dealership quality standards.
- Complete assigned work within established labor time guidelines.
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through quality craftsmanship.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and teamwork at all times.
