The Business Development Officer serves as a representative of Itasca Bank & Trust Co., responsible for developing new business relationships, both commercial and retail, while elevating the Bank’s visibility and impact throughout the community. This role is half business development and half community engagement. While being highly active in local chambers, civic organizations, nonprofits and business networks, this position is the face of Itasca Bank & Trust Co. across Itasca, Roselle, and surrounding communities. This position requires frequent attendance at early morning, evening and occasional weekend events.

Essential Functions

Identify and acquire new commercial, small business, and consumer banking relationships.

Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospects using Itasca Bank’s 360 CRM tool (Connect) and structured follow-up.

Meet regularly with taxing body account holders, nurturing these customers for loyalty and additional business.

Prospect for new taxing body relationships or additional deposits as needed by the Bank.

Lead a team approach to respond to any RFPs.

Achieve annual goals for deposit growth, loan referrals, and fee-based revenue.

Strengthen relationships with existing clients to improve retention and cross‑sell opportunities.

Conduct on-site business visits to understand client needs and recommend tailored solutions.

Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to regulatory, risk, and compliance standards.

Participate in product training to ensure product knowledge across bank offerings and complete regulatory training as assigned.

Serve as a highly visible ambassador of Itasca Bank & Trust at chambers, nonprofit organizations, local businesses and taxing bodies. Attend events during work day hours, as well as some mornings, some evenings and some weekends included.

Partner with SVP CRA Officer to source and participate in CRA qualifying events to support the needs of the community Itasca Bank serves.

Build partnerships with local officials and other centers of influence. Introduce contacts to others at the Bank when possible.

Partner with Marketing on sponsorships, events, and community initiatives to maximize brand exposure. Regularly provide material for Marketing to use for social and other advertising campaigns that demonstrates the Bank’s community involvement.

Promote the Bank’s Women’s Initiative when opportunities present themselves. Be a source for new members, as well as new roundtable members.

Report valuable community information to bank’s management team consistently.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.


Physical Demands

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Must be able to travel at times.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel


Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.


Required Education and Experience


Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in community banking business development and community engagement

Demonstrated success in deposit growth, loan referral generation and cross-selling multiple banking products and services

Experience representing a community bank through local business development, networking, and civic involvement

Demonstrated success in customer relationship building and retention

Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses and municipal/public funds

Established network of local business leaders, CPA’s, attorneys, and real estate professionals

Experience using CRM systems to manage pipelines

Proven success in building partnerships across departments

Proven success leading through a variety of initiatives

Proficient Microsoft Office applications skills (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
