Job Summary:


Clinical Care Assistants function as part of the Clinical Care Team at our Hamburg and Brannon Crossing locations to facilitate patient flow through the clinical area to include patient assessment, assisting with procedures, performing non-physician diagnostic testing as ordered, administering medications, scheduling referral appointments, and giving discharge instructions to patients.

Experience working in a pediatric healthcare setting is a plus, as FPA provides care to patients of all ages, from newborns through older adults.


Job Duties:

Preload patient charts daily, as assignedObtain patient history, assessment of current complaint, vital signs measurement, order procedures and test according to FPA standard protocols and document in an electronic medical recordAssist providers in performing procedures (stress testing, office surgery, pap smears, etc.)Perform non-physician diagnostic procedures (electrocardiogram, audiometry, and pulmonary function testing, etc.)Administer medication as ordered (oral medications, therapeutic injectables, immunizations, and allergy injection, etc.)Monitor therapeutic response to medications, such as repeat blood pressure readings, pain relief and/or adverse reactions as indicatedPerform needed equipment maintenance and upkeep to ensure good working order of medical equipment. Stock and set up exam rooms for patient care. Clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable instruments and packs.Schedule STAT diagnostic and referral appointments for patients and communicate preparation and proper follow-upPerform Task basket responsibilitiesAssist with lunch coverage as assignedOther duties and responsibilities required for efficient operation of the office to provide quality care and service


Requirements:

Must be willing to travel between locations (Hamburg and Brannon Crossing)A graduate of a medical assisting program (Certified or Registered MAs preferred) The ability to work well under stress and to manage high patient volume Fine motor skills required for injections, phlebotomy and performing other diagnostic testsMotor skills required to move quickly from room to room, to assist patients in ambulation, and to push a wheelchairPhysical ability to sit, stand and stretch repeatedly as well as lift loads of less than 10 poundsPrevious experience in a primary care, family medicine, or pediatric practice is preferred
