Position Title: Mgr-Patient Financial Svcs

Description

Wage Range: $90,958 - $145,496 per year

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.

Job Summary:


Provides leadership and is responsible for managing the Patient Financial Services department for EvergreenHealth Kirkland, Hospice Care and Home Care. Oversees Patient Financial Services functions including billing, insurance follow-up, cashiering, refunds, customer service, self-pay collections, bad debt and charity care. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of billing and collection activities including knowledge of, and compliance with, applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Primary Duties:

  • Leads, guides and directs staff that perform Patient Financial Services functions and manages the processes and systems required to accomplish timely patient billing, collections, cashiering, customer service, bad debt and charity care for hospital, hospice and home health care services.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to departmental standards of excellence through effective planning and execution, including leading and managing functional performance, measuring and improving processes, leveraging automation, and fostering continuous performance improvement.
  • Responsible for assessing, developing and leading the Patient Financial Services strategy for transformational patient experiences.
  • Oversees patient accounts call center operations, ensuring overall effectiveness and high-quality patient experience for EvergreenHealth patients and community. Manages vendor performance for out-sourced services and bad debt collections on behalf of EvergreenHealth.
  • Designs data solutions to provide analytic reporting and derive actionable insights.
  • Responsible for the review and validation of departmental key performance indicators for EvergreenHealth Kirkland and Hospice Care and Home Care.
  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of applicable billing and collections laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Develops, approves, implements and maintains departmental policies and procedures that are consistent with hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists the Patient Financial Services Director with the review and preparation of departmental budget and operates department within approved budget.
  • Works collaboratively with other management staff and personnel to assist in program development and to promote an understanding of the interrelationship of clinical, business activities and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years management experience in Patient Financial Services or related field
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn new tools and applications
  • Ability to communicate both in writing and/or verbally with people under his/her supervision as well as other department managers and the public.

DESIRED for the position:

  • Masters degree in Healthcare or Business Administration
