Clearance Requirement: Public Trust Rate: $17.95 per hour + $5.09 HW

Position Summary

Sugpiat Group is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Janitor / Custodial Services Technician to support a federal government facility in Narragansett, Rhode Island. The selected candidate will perform routine custodial and sanitation duties to maintain a clean, safe, and professional government work environment using environmentally preferable green cleaning practices.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. U.S. citizenship may be required in accordance with federal contract requirements.

Compensation

This position is covered by the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) and compensated in accordance with U.S. Department of Labor Wage Determination 2015-4089, Revision 32 (dated December 3, 2025).

  • Hourly Wage: $17.95 per hour
  • Health & Welfare Fringe Benefit: $5.09 per hour

The Health & Welfare fringe benefit will be provided in accordance with applicable U.S. Department of Labor regulations and may be applied toward qualifying employer-sponsored benefits or paid as cash in lieu of benefits, consistent with company policy and employee benefit eligibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily custodial services including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, conference rooms, laboratories, and common areas
  • Utilize environmentally preferable (“green”) cleaning products, materials, and methods in compliance with federal sustainability requirements
  • Follow green cleaning procedures designed to reduce environmental impact and improve indoor air quality
  • Replenish restroom and facility supplies including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
  • Clean windows, glass surfaces, doors, and other high-touch areas
  • Operate standard custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners
  • Follow OSHA, and site-specific safety procedures and protocols
  • Handle cleaning chemicals and materials in accordance with safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages to management
  • Support periodic deep cleaning projects and special cleaning requests as needed
  • Maintain professional conduct while working in a federal government environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous janitorial, custodial, or facility maintenance experience preferred
  • Knowledge of green cleaning practices, environmentally preferable cleaning products, and sustainable custodial procedures
  • Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical duties including standing, bending, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods
  • Strong attendance and reliability required
  • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation for Public Trust clearance eligibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal, commercial, laboratory, or government facilities
  • Experience working under federal green cleaning or sustainability standards
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and custodial best practices
  • Experience working in secure or regulated environments

Work Environment

Work is performed in government office and facility environment. Duties may require exposure to cleaning chemicals, frequent movement throughout the facility, and occasional after-hours or weekend support.
