Job Description

Lead Network Architecture Test Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Network Architecture Test Engineer based in the United States.

This is a technical leadership role focused on defining and owning end-to-end validation methodologies for network hardware in complex manufacturing environments. You’ll design test architectures, develop automated validation software, and establish standards that enable reliable hardware production at scale. The role spans architecture reviews, software development, test planning, production deployment, and sustaining engineering. You’ll work closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and customer teams to ensure evolving products and requirements remain compatible with robust test processes. As a subject matter expert, you’ll also provide technical direction and mentorship across network infrastructure testing. The environment is global, multi-site, and highly collaborative, with opportunities to work on advanced networking and hyperscale infrastructure. Up to 10% domestic and international travel is expected.

Accountabilities:
  • Design and develop test system architectures, procedures, standards, and methodologies for validating network hardware during manufacturing.
  • Create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to evaluate the functionality and performance of network devices and supporting rack hardware, including data switches, console switches, powershelves, and management servers.
  • Define, develop, review, release, and maintain software that automates manufacturing test processes, including equipment control, data collection, analysis, and test reporting.
  • Support and sustain test software deployed across production facilities, implementing configuration changes for new product variants, design revisions, changing customer requirements, and new manufacturing initiatives.
  • Conduct architecture and code reviews while ensuring validation solutions follow established engineering and software development standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for test procedures, specifications, infrastructure, and automated documentation processes.
  • Collaborate with customers, development engineers, hardware engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality teams, and other stakeholders to align validation requirements and quality standards.
  • Act as a technical escalation point and subject matter expert for network infrastructure testing and automated validation methodologies.
  • Establish scalable testing practices and provide technical standards and guidance that enable other engineers to build consistent, reliable solutions.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute technical leadership across network validation and manufacturing test initiatives.
  • Deploy and support test software in production environments while ensuring solutions remain reliable as products and processes evolve.
  • Work effectively across multi-site and multicultural teams and coordinate technical requirements across geographically distributed operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline preferred; a master’s degree is an advantage.
  • At least 12 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 8 years with a master’s degree, ideally combining network infrastructure and software development within manufacturing test environments.
  • Strong experience interacting with, configuring, and validating network hardware.
  • Demonstrated expertise across at least five of the following technical areas, with the ability to expand your skill set as business needs evolve:
    • Python and Bash programming or scripting.
    • Linux development and fundamentals, including CentOS or Ubuntu.
    • Hardware and API technologies for controlling, managing, and stressing infrastructure devices, such as IPMI, Redfish, mprime, FIO, memtester, iperf, and BER.
    • Virtualization and VM management platforms such as VMware/vSphere, Proxmox, OpenShift, Nutanix, or similar technologies.
    • Enterprise Ethernet and data center networking across Layers 1, 2, and 3, including switching, routing, BGP, DHCP Relay, and ECMP; Arista CloudVision experience is a plus.
    • Manufacturing environment switch upgrades and setup using ONIE and tools such as firmware packages, swutil, Broadcom, Innovium, or comparable technologies.
    • Source control and code versioning tools, particularly Git.
    • Professional software engineering practices spanning coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations, and the full software development lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of test architecture design and validation methodology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear direction for cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working effectively in multi-site and multicultural environments.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor others, and operate as a subject matter expert.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
  • Preferred: 15+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, experience with hyperscale customers and environments, and broader expertise across the full range of listed technical skills.
Benefits
  • Base salary range of $126,100–$227,000 USD, with the actual offer determined by qualifications, experience, location, education, market data, and internal equity.
  • Eligibility for a short-term performance-based incentive.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Paid time off accruing at 3.07 hours per pay period during the first year of employment.
  • Four weeks of paid parental leave.
  • 11 company-paid holidays in 2026, including nine fixed holidays and two optional floating holidays, subject to annual change.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Employee stock purchase plan.
  • Remote work opportunity within the United States.
  • Opportunity to work on advanced network hardware, automated manufacturing validation, and large-scale infrastructure programs.
  • Exposure to global engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer teams.
  • Professional growth through technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
