Job Description
Willis Klein Commercial (WKC) is looking for a dependable, organized, and safety-focused Warehouse Associate / Backup Driver to support our daily warehouse, customer pickup, inventory, and delivery operations.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes ownership of their work, pays attention to details, and understands that accurate receiving and inventory control directly affect our customers and the rest of the company.
The Four Main ResponsibilitiesDaily Receiving
You will be responsible for completing the daily receiving process from start to finish, including:
- Unloading and inspecting incoming shipments.
- Confirming quantities, part numbers, finishes, and condition.
- Matching material to purchase orders and packing slips.
- Entering received material into the company system accurately and on time.
- Reporting shortages, damage, overages, or incorrect material immediately.
- Labeling, staging, and putting material in the correct warehouse location.
You will keep all stock requisitions accurate and current each day by:
- Pulling, staging, issuing, transferring, and replenishing stock material.
- Verifying item numbers, quantities, locations, and job information.
- Making sure all inventory movements are properly documented.
- Reporting missing material, low stock, or inventory discrepancies before they affect a customer or project.
- Assisting with cycle counts and physical inventory.
You will be the first warehouse associate expected to assist Will Call customers unless you are completing a task that cannot be stopped safely or management directs otherwise.
Responsibilities include:
- Promptly greeting and assisting customers.
- Confirming the customer, order, and material being released.
- Pulling, checking, staging, and loading the correct material.
- Obtaining required signatures or pickup documentation.
- Professionally resolving or escalating order discrepancies.
You will serve as the primary backup driver when scheduled drivers are unavailable or additional delivery support is needed.
You must be able to:
- Operate assigned WKC vehicles for which you are properly licensed, medically qualified, insured, and company-authorized.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Obtain and maintain a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate when required.
- Complete deliveries, pickups, warehouse transfers, vendor pickups, and job-site deliveries.
- Verify and secure material before leaving the warehouse.
- Complete vehicle inspections and immediately report damage, accidents, mechanical issues, or unsafe conditions.
- Follow all traffic laws, company fleet policies, and customer job-site requirements.
This position is not limited to the four primary areas above. You will also be expected to:
- Pick, pack, verify, and stage customer and project orders.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment after completing required training.
- Assist with returns, transfers, damaged material, and inventory corrections.
- Keep receiving areas, aisles, loading areas, and storage locations clean and organized.
- Protect company inventory, tools, vehicles, equipment, and customer material.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety procedures.
- Assist other departments and perform other duties as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain approval under WKC’s vehicle insurance requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate when required.
- Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, delivery, or material-handling experience preferred.
- Forklift experience or willingness to complete company-approved training.
- Basic computer, math, counting, and measurement skills.
- Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, delivery tickets, requisitions, invoices, and product labels.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Professional communication with customers, vendors, drivers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and follow-through.
- Ability to work independently and adjust priorities as business needs change.
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for most of the workday.
- Bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb, push, pull, and twist.
- Regularly lift and carry material weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Move heavier material with assistance or approved material-handling equipment.
- Enter and exit trucks, trailers, loading docks, and warehouse equipment.
- Work in warehouse temperatures that may vary with weather conditions.
- Drive for extended periods and work at customer locations, vendor facilities, or construction sites.
- Wear steel-toe or composite-toe footwear and other required safety equipment.
This is a full-time, hourly position. Work schedules are based on operational and customer needs. Overtime, early starts, schedule changes, and occasional Saturday work may be required.
