Lead with Purpose: Shape the Future of Daily SCL & Recreational Programming!

Easterseals Iowa is looking for an inspiring, hands-on leader to join us as the Assistant Director of Daily SCL and Recreational Programming. In this multi-faceted leadership role, you will provide critical oversight, training, and strategic direction to our Daily SCL and Respite Programs. You will serve as a champion for both our clients and our staff—mentoring team members, cultivating strong relationships with guardians and case managers, and driving team alignment through the agency! Principle Accountabilities Include:

• Provide a full range of leadership duties including recruiting, hiring, training, and developing the assigned team.

• Build team and agency alignment by facilitating, with the department Senior Director, Health and Wellness team meetings to address all components of operations, including reviewing cascading messages, policy/ procedure, reviewing department Balance Score Card (BSC) and Agency Score Card.

• Provide in-person training to House Managers

• Assist in recruiting and assessing clients.

• Implement and monitor quality controls in all areas of program services.

• Serve on the Daily SCL and Recreational Leadership Team as well as agency Operations Teams.

• Work with new families and customers to increase new operational opportunities for service delivery in Daily SCL and Recreational programs.

• Ensure timely completion of all progress notes and documentation.

• Facilitate department trainings for Personal Cares, Lifts and Transfers.

• Assist in Daily SCL sites as needed.

• Provide on-site supervision for Respite once a quarter.

• Provide daily transportation to/from work and community social outings, as needed.

• Support clients with personal needs as required (i.e., medication management, toileting, personal hygiene care, etc).

• Maintain communication with guardian/providers/case managers with regards to daily programming concerns (lunch, clothing, funds, incident reports, etc.).

• Support Summer Camp(s) as requested.

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.

• Two years’ previous experience working with people who have disabilities.

• Leadership experience and team member training and development experience preferred.

• Certified in CPR (Adult and Child), First Aid, or ability to receive certification during first 90 days of employment.

• Ability to successfully complete Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within first 30 days. • Access to a telephone and maintain a consistent on-call status.

• Ability to obtain and maintain Iowa Class D Chauffeur’s driver’s license.

• Must be insurable under Easterseals vehicle insurance policy.

• Ability to pass a Medication Management course during first six months of employment.

• Desire to work in a team environment.

• Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines.

• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.

• Ability to operate a computer and navigate through the Easterseals Iowa databases: SUNNY and Paylocity.

• Experience in word processing software; Word and Excel preferred.

• Ability to write complete sentences and utilize appropriate grammar.

• Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and lift.

• Ability to transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds.

• Access to reliable transportation for regular participation at work.

• Provide after-hours support to the team.
