We operate three leading brands in the marine industry: Elite Marine, Southern Marine Supply, and Spot Zero. Elite Marine specializes in the installation and maintenance of marine air conditioning systems. Southern Marine Supply is a premier wholesale and retail supplier, and Spot Zero delivers innovative water purification systems that enhance water quality for yachts. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to support the financial operations across all three companies. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor accounts receivable aging on an ongoing basis and proactively follow up on outstanding balances to support healthy cash flow across all three companies.
- Review daily financial transactions requiring reconciliation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Process incoming checks and prepare daily bank deposits, maintaining accurate records and supporting proper cash management procedures.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank statements and balance sheet accounts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions between Spot Zero, Elite Marine A/C, and Southern Marine Supply, ensuring balances are accurate and properly recorded.
- Review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, helping to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments as necessary to support accurate financial reporting.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities by completing assigned reconciliations, analyses, and reporting requirements within established deadlines.
- Generate financial reports and support schedules as requested by management to assist with business decision-making and operational planning.
- Ensure accounting practices remain compliant with company policies, internal controls, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Support the development and maintenance of strong internal controls while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies.
- Serve as a backup resource for payroll processing and related payroll functions when needed.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation to support audits, reporting requirements, and ongoing business operations.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to provide accounting support and contribute to the continued growth and success of all three organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant accounting experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, with a strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
- Proficiency in Paylocity is required, including experience navigating payroll, employee records, reporting, and other accounting-related functions within the platform.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with formulas, pivot tables, and financial data analysis. Experience with accounting and ERP software is required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and support multiple business entities.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- High level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential financial and employee information.

Work Environment & Schedule
- This is a full-time, in-office position | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
