Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager, DevOps based in the United States.
This is a high-impact leadership role focused on building and scaling the DevOps and platform engineering capabilities that underpin mission-critical systems operating in a fast-paced, security-sensitive environment. You will lead a team responsible for CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, and production reliability across distributed cloud-native systems. The role combines hands-on technical depth with people leadership, requiring you to set engineering standards while actively shaping system architecture and operational excellence. You will collaborate closely with Security, Engineering, and Product teams to ensure secure-by-default, highly available infrastructure that supports rapid software delivery. This is a highly cross-functional role where your work directly improves developer velocity, system resilience, and operational maturity. You will play a key role in defining how modern DevOps practices are implemented at scale in a mission-driven organization. The environment is remote-first, fast-moving, and centered on disciplined execution and measurable reliability outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a DevOps engineering team, setting technical direction, performance standards, and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
- Own the reliability and performance of CI/CD pipelines, deployment systems, and production infrastructure across cloud environments.
- Design and implement scalable infrastructure-as-code practices using modern tooling, ensuring consistency, security, and auditability.
- Drive improvements in build, test, and release pipelines, including progressive delivery strategies, rollback mechanisms, and supply-chain security enhancements.
- Build and evolve observability systems including logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and dashboards to improve system visibility and incident response.
- Develop self-service infrastructure and developer tooling to reduce operational toil and improve engineering productivity.
- Partner with application engineering teams to improve deployability, operability, and system resilience across services.
- Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to implement secure-by-default infrastructure patterns and maintain audit readiness.
- Define and track operational metrics and SLOs, using data-driven insights to guide reliability improvements and engineering priorities.
- Translate business and product requirements into a scalable infrastructure roadmap aligned with engineering and organizational goals.
- 3+ years of experience managing and leading DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, infrastructure, systems engineering, or software engineering roles.
- Strong experience operating production systems in cloud environments, preferably AWS, with a focus on scalability and reliability.
- Deep knowledge of CI/CD systems and modern release engineering practices, including automation and deployment safety mechanisms.
- Experience building and maintaining observability stacks (e.g., Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK/OpenSearch) and using telemetry to drive operational improvements.
- Strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi, including best practices around testing, review, and drift detection.
- Experience with containerized environments and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes or ECS.
- Solid understanding of DevOps and SRE principles, including SLOs, incident management, and reliability engineering.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align engineering, security, and product priorities.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver platform improvements in fast-paced environments.
- Experience working in security-conscious or regulated environments is a plus.
- Competitive base salary with performance-based compensation.
- Fully remote-first work environment within the United States.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- Unlimited PTO and flexible time-off policies.
- Monthly wellness, mental health, and home office stipends.
- Paid parental leave and family support benefits.
- Child and pet care reimbursement during travel.
- Opportunity to lead and shape core DevOps practices in a high-growth, mission-driven organization.
- Exposure to advanced cloud infrastructure, security engineering, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Strong culture of autonomy, ownership, and continuous technical growth.
