Position Summary
The Liquid Spring Installer is responsible for installing, setting up, and verifying Liquid Spring® smart suspension systems on ambulance chassis in accordance with manufacturer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and ride-quality performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install Liquid Spring suspension components including struts, accumulators, pumps, reservoirs, wiring harnesses, and control modules
- Remove and replace OEM suspension components as required
- Route and secure hydraulic lines and electrical connections per specifications
- Perform system setup, calibration, and basic diagnostics
- Verify proper installation, torque values, clearances, and system operation
- Read and interpret work instructions, schematics, and chassis upfit requirements
- Identify and report installation issues, part discrepancies, or quality concerns
- Follow all safety procedures, torque standards, and PPE requirements
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Support rework, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience in automotive, heavy-duty vehicle, or chassis upfitting preferred
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and lifting equipment
- Ability to read basic schematics and follow technical instructions
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work under vehicles
- Dependable attendance and strong attention to detail
Preferred Experience
- Experience installing Liquid Spring®, air ride, or hydraulic suspension systems
- Background in ambulance, fire apparatus, truck, RV, or fleet vehicle upfitting
- Basic electrical knowledge and diagnostic experience
- Familiarity with OEM chassis (Ford, Chevy, RAM, Freightliner)
- Understanding of ride-height, alignment, and suspension geometry
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Manufacturing and vehicle upfitting shop environment
- Exposure to noise, fluids, heavy components, and moving vehicles
- PPE required
Contingencies of Employment
- Successful completion of a background check, pre-employment drug screen and physical examination
- Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, if applicable to the position
