GENERAL SUMMARY
-
The Vice President of Facilities & Construction is responsible for the overall strategic planning & direction of Engineering, Facility Planning & Construction, and Real Estate. The Vice President of Facilities & Construction is responsible for the efficient acquisition of critical services and preventative maintenance of properties. A high level of independence in performance of the role and solution of problems is expected. However, demonstrated cooperation and collaboration is equally essential for successful functioning. Reports to the Chief Clinical Operating Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Develops objectives and implements plans to achieve the CHKDHS Strategic Objectives.

Participates in strategic planning that aligns with both CHKD and operational responsibilities and priorities, while providing leadership and oversight to assigned operational areas.

Plans, organizes and direct work of the functions, including strategic planning, establishing goals and objectives, controlling costs and improving efficiency and service delivery.

Designs and implements effective and efficient organizational structure and functional standards for divisional operations.

Ensures on-going survey readiness and organizational compliance for oversight organizations; maintains currency on regulatory standards.

Effectively communicates information and plans to facilitate informed decision making.

Develops processes to promote quality of service, budgetary compliance and identification of departmental direction and expectations.

Responsible for financial performance of all departments under direct supervision in a manner aligned with budget expectations.
-
Leads development of budgets consistent with organizational expectations.

Ensures integration of continuous improvement principles and strategies in all operational areas.
-
Attracts, motivates and coaches talent to achieve corporate goals.
-
Directs supervision, development and mentoring of team members reporting to the VP of Facilities & Construction to create an effective, empowered, innovative and collaborative team.

Directs activities related to recruitment, retention, professional development and competency, continuing promotion, and performance appraisal. Builds and promotes an engaged and empowered workforce that is nimble and able to support growth initiatives.

Develops, promotes and monitors a culture of customer satisfaction, safety, and efficiency.

Independently carries out and is accountable for daily operations and other activities.

Additional duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Clinical Operations Officer.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
-
Required Education and Experience
-
10 or more years of healthcare leadership experience required.
-
Experience in Master Facility planning and execution in addition to development and implementation of strategic initiatives is required.
-
Contract management oversight experience including relationship management with vendors and community leaders/organizations is required.

Preferred Education and Experience
-
Master’s degree in Business, Health Administration and or Public Health preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Knowledge of healthcare clinical and business processes, background in planning, implementation and supporting multiple departments in a complex healthcare environment.

Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
-
Strong project management skills in planning and leading programs, which lead to organizational development and capacity improvements and developments.

Strong decision-making skills and confident in making strategic and operational decisions.
-
Proven ability to establish credibility with senior stakeholders, excellent influencing skills to build and maintain relationships and work collaboratively.

Effective verbal and written communication, including presentation skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities with a proven track record of staff development and mentorship.

WORKING CONDITIONS
-
Work is performed inside and outside of the hospital, in all weather conditions, with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
