This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare data infrastructure by designing modern, AI-ready platforms for leading healthcare organizations.
You will serve as the senior technical authority responsible for defining reference architectures across advanced cloud data ecosystems.
The position combines hands-on engineering, enterprise architecture, customer engagement, and technical leadership.
You will guide complex modernization initiatives, transforming legacy healthcare data environments into secure and scalable foundations for AI-driven workflows.
Working closely with engineering teams and executive stakeholders, you will influence strategic technology decisions and deliver measurable impact.
This is a high-leverage opportunity for an experienced architect who thrives at the intersection of innovation, data platforms, and real-world healthcare challenges.

Accountabilities:

The Staff / Principal Forward-Deployed Architect, Data Modernization will own the technical vision and execution of modern data platform initiatives, serving as the primary architect across customer engagements. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, hands-on technical expertise, customer-facing leadership, and team development to deliver scalable cloud-based solutions.

  • Define and evolve cross-platform reference architectures for modern data platforms across Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Act as the engagement-embedded technical leader, driving architecture decisions, design reviews, and implementation of complex solutions.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions with healthcare organizations to assess existing data environments and design scalable modernization strategies.
  • Evaluate legacy systems, healthcare data sources, and integration patterns to create secure, AI-ready target architectures.
  • Lead and mentor senior data engineers and cloud/platform engineers while establishing strong technical standards.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables, including infrastructure-as-code, ingestion frameworks, data-sharing models, and security controls.
  • Partner with delivery and business teams to define project scopes, identify technical risks, and ensure successful execution timelines.
  • Support technical handoffs and integrations to enable AI-powered workflows on modernized data foundations.
  • Develop reusable architecture patterns, accelerators, documentation, and best practices to improve future engagements.
  • Represent the technical vision during pre-sales discussions with executive stakeholders, including technology leaders and enterprise architects.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance by reviewing code, collaborating on complex engineering challenges, and contributing directly when needed.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a senior technology leader with extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise data platforms in complex environments. You should combine deep technical expertise with strong communication skills, the ability to influence executive stakeholders, and a passion for building practical solutions that create business value.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform architecture, solutions architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Proven experience leading multi-person engineering teams and driving complex technical initiatives.
  • Hands-on production experience with at least two of the following platforms: Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric, with the ability to own architectural decisions across all three.
  • Experience delivering multiple enterprise cloud data platform implementations, preferably within regulated industries.
  • Strong cloud expertise, particularly with Azure environments, including networking, identity management, key management, infrastructure-as-code, and observability.
  • Experience leading executive-level technical conversations with CTOs, CDOs, CISOs, and enterprise architecture teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern data-sharing approaches, including Delta Sharing, Snowflake Reader Accounts, Fabric External Sharing, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data ecosystems, including Epic Clarity/Caboodle, Cogito, Bulk FHIR, HL7, claims data, and healthcare data integration challenges.
  • Experience working within HIPAA, HITRUST, or other regulated environments, with knowledge of security, compliance, and PHI protection practices.
  • Ability to balance architectural excellence with practical delivery constraints in fast-moving, time-bound engagements.
  • Strong communication, documentation, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of $190,000–$250,000, based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
  • Equity package eligibility as part of the overall compensation offering.
  • Fully remote work opportunity with flexible working arrangements.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Opportunity to work on transformative healthcare technology initiatives with significant industry impact.
  • High-impact technical leadership role shaping AI-ready data foundations across healthcare organizations.
  • Collaborative environment focused on innovation, ownership, and professional growth.
  • Inclusive workplace culture that values diverse perspectives and creative problem-solving.
  • Travel opportunities to collaborate directly with healthcare clients, including approximately 25–35% travel depending on engagement needs.
