POSITION SUMMARY: The Ashland Shop Lead serves as the on-site manager of the Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council Shop located in Ashland Mall. This role is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service to all shop visitors and supporting key departments, including Girl Scout Programming, Community Recruitment and Engagement, and the Cookie and Fall Product Programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail Operations
· Welcome and assist customers with warmth and professionalism
· Accurately process sales transactions
· Create and manage staff schedules
· Share important updates and information with Ashland staff
· Keep the shop clean, organized, and inviting
· Delegate tasks to maintain shop standards
· Respond promptly to phone calls and emails
· Manage inventory and restock merchandise as needed
· Follow all shop policies and procedures
· Train staff to ensure excellent customer service and operational consistency
Product Program Support
· Work with the Product Program Coordinator to plan and run Cookie and Fall Product Programs
· Provide guidance to volunteers, girls, and troops
· Oversee product distribution and inventory
· Handle customer concerns related to product programs
· Participate in product-related events and activities
Community Recruitment & Engagement
· Support troop leaders and volunteers by connecting them to council resources and training
· Create a welcoming environment for new and returning Girl Scouts
· Attend council-provided training sessions
· Stay informed on Girl Scout policies, programs, and engagement strategies
Program & Events Coordination
· Plan and lead in-house programs aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE)
· Collaborate with the Program Team to meet regional goals
· Assist with volunteer-led programming and committees
· Ensure a safe, positive environment during all programs and events
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Associate's degree or higher OR minimum 2-years in a customer service role
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Requirements:REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Capability to provide your own transportation and maintain a valid operator license.
• Strong computer and data entry skills – Microsoft Office proficient
• Ability to work on a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry boxes and merchandise.
