Gretchen's House Child Care Centers are seeking a dedicated and flexible Childcare Substitute to join our team and support our early childhood education programs. As a Childcare Substitute, you will provide consistent, high-quality care and support to children in the absence of their regular caregivers, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and monitor children in various childcare settings, including classrooms, play areas, and outdoor spaces

- Implement daily activities and routines in accordance with program guidelines and curriculum

- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times

- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff regarding daily activities and any concerns

- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment

- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures

- Adapt to different age groups and individual needs as required

- Assist with meal and snack times, including proper hygiene and dietary considerations

- Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth through positive interactions

Skills and Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting preferred

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and routines

- Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in child development

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to childcare

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in CPR and First Aid are a plus

• A Bachelors or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred, but not necessary
• Personnel file must be complete and up to date
• Adheres to attendance and dress code policies as outlined in the Staff Handbook
• Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children, co-workers and parents
• Knowledge of children’s physical, emotional and developmental patterns
• Ability to create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate guidance
• Evidence of emotional maturity and stability
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
• Evidence of sufficient judgment to handle crisis situations
