The Staff Software Engineer will work across the full stack to design, build, and optimize scalable backend microservices and responsive frontend applications that power a complex, data-driven platform. You will play a key role in architectural decisions, ensuring systems are secure, performant, and maintainable while supporting long-term product growth. This position requires close collaboration with product, design, and engineering peers to translate business needs into high-quality technical solutions. You will also act as a technical leader, mentoring engineers and raising the bar for engineering excellence. - Contribute hands-on to full stack development, building and maintaining scalable backend microservices and modern frontend interfaces with strong performance and reliability.
- Drive architectural decisions across systems, ensuring solutions are designed for scalability, security, maintainability, and long-term evolution.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineering peers to translate requirements into robust technical implementations.
- Participate in code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and help maintain high-quality standards across the codebase.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical growth and a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and AI-enabled development practices to continuously improve engineering efficiency and innovation.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including strong expertise in Java or Golang.
- 5+ years of experience in database design, optimization, and performance tuning in production systems.
- 5+ years of experience working with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud or equivalent providers.
- 3+ years of full stack engineering experience building both backend services and frontend applications.
- 2+ years of experience using AI-assisted development tools and workflows (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude or similar).
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, and scalable system patterns.
- Proven ability to work effectively in agile environments with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and operate in a remote-first setting.
- Strong problem-solving ability with comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
