ROLE AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The HR Intern is a full-time, three-month internship designed to provide hands-on experience supporting a variety of Human Resources functions while partnering closely with members of the HR team. This role provides exposure to employee relations, recruiting, HR operations, and strategic HR projects. During the first two weeks, the HR Intern will participate in training with the HR Generalist to learn HR processes, systems, policies, and the day-to-day operations of the HR function. Following the initial training period, the intern will begin managing entry-level HR responsibilities while gaining exposure to broader HR initiatives. This internship provides the opportunity to develop practical HR skills, build relationships across the organization, and explore different areas of Human Resources based on individual interests and business needs.

  • Support entry-level employee relations activities, including responding to routine employee questions and assisting with HR-related requests
  • Manage the HR inbox by reviewing, prioritizing, and routing inquiries to the appropriate HR team member
  • Assist with HR documentation, tracking, and follow-up activities
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling employee information
  • Gain exposure to various HR projects and initiatives across the organization
  • Assist the HR team with project coordination, research, reporting, and process improvements
  • Partner with HR team members to support the successful completion of key initiatives
  • Support recruiting activities, including candidate sourcing, interview coordination, and talent acquisition initiatives as assigned
  • Work alongside the HR Business Partner to gain exposure to employee relations matters, manager support, and workplace initiatives
  • Continue partnering with the HR Generalist on process improvements, HR projects, and initiatives that support the overall employee experience
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Ensures effectiveness in processes to achieve/seek best practice

EQUIPMENT NORMALLY USED

  • Telephone and headset, computer, multiple screens, copier, scanning system, printer, postage machine, calculator, and fax machines
  • May use other office equipment as needed

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • The employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time entering data into multiple systems
  • The employee is regularly required to use their fingers, hands, arms, and eyes to input data and fold and/or cut paper
  • The employee may be required to answer the phone as well as respond to team members and internal customers
  • The employee is required to operate and maintain a variety of office equipment including a computer, copy machines, scanning and reading equipment and a calculator requiring repetitive motion of the fingers, hands, arms, and eyes
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and talk for an hour or more
  • Vision ability is required to do the job, including close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions that may require handling multiple work assignments with specific deadlines

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
  • Strong interest in developing a career in Human Resources
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, take ownership, and work collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn HR systems and tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior internship, volunteer, administrative, customer service, or office experience
  • Interest in employee relations, recruiting, HR operations, or organizational development
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Teams, SharePoint, or other business tools
  • Experience working on team in a competitive environment
