The Supplement Editor plays a key role in transforming complex municipal legislative content into accurate, accessible, and well-structured publications.
This position supports local government clients by ensuring legal documents are edited, organized, and presented with precision.
The role combines proofreading expertise, legal content interpretation, technical formatting, and strong attention to detail.
Working in a deadline-driven environment, you will manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver reliable information across digital and print platforms.

Accountabilities:

The Supplement Editor is responsible for reviewing, organizing, and preparing municipal legislative materials for publication while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability across multiple formats.

  • Edit and proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, proper formatting, and adherence to established style guidelines.
  • Interpret legislative materials and determine appropriate organization and placement within consolidated documents.
  • Prepare legal content in clear outline formats suitable for online and print publication.
  • Use web coding and authoring tools, including HTML and XML, to format and publish legal information accurately.
  • Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, productivity targets, and quality expectations.
  • Apply critical thinking and independent judgment when reviewing municipal law content and resolving formatting or content-related challenges.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and internal stakeholders to address questions, coordinate updates, and support successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with different departments to improve client satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional services.
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute to process improvements, and support departmental objectives.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong editing skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex information in a fast-paced environment. A background in proofreading, legal content, or technical documentation is valuable.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in proofreading, editing, or a related role.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and technical editing abilities.
  • Excellent command of the English language with strong grammar and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or errors.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn technical subject matter and apply new concepts effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word is required.
  • Experience with HTML, XML, Adobe InDesign, or similar web/document formatting tools is a plus.
