22 hours weekly 7:30am-7:00pm - with every other weekend
JOB TITLE: Assisted Living Nurse
DEPARTMENT: Assisted Living Services
ACCOUNTABILITY: Supervisor of the Assisted Living Agency (SALSA)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Assisted Living Nurse will oversee daily operation of the Assisted Living Neighborhood or Neighborhoods.
JOB FUNCTIONS: (This list may not include all duties assigned.)
- Under the direction of the SALSA and/or SALSA Designee, supervise any or all assisted living neighborhoods.
- Ensures all required services are provided to the residents.
- Assists residents in making arrangements to meet their personal needs.
- Manages all nursing and assisted living aide services.
- Supervises assigned licensed and certified staff in the delivery of services.
- Participates in developing agency objectives, standards of care, policies and procedures concerning nursing services and the provision of assistance with activities of daily living (ADL’s).
- Participates in direct staff orientation, training competencies and in-service education.
- Participates in program planning and evaluating activities related to the clinical services provided by the agency.
- Reports any problems associated with the provision of the core services or any problems or concerns associated with the assisted living community to the SALSA or Director.
- Interacts with family members/responsible parties when appropriate.
- May provide direct nursing services.
- Attends in-services at McLean or other locations as necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical Physical Demands: Requires a full range of body motion including positioning, assisting and transferring clients using minimal, moderate, or maximal assist. Requires manual dexterity and hand eye coordination. Requires the ability to walk up and down stairs. Requires vision and hearing within normal range. Requires the ability to read and write. Occasionally requires the ability to roll/transfer 80 pounds.
Typical Working Conditions: Work is performed in the assisted living area. Contact with clients, families and staff. Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of assisted living regulations and practices; Knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Knowledge and competency in the nursing process, quality assurance, infection control, restorative, rehabilitative and nursing practice and theory. Ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document care and instructions. Ability to analyze data from client outcomes to modify care. Demonstrates personal integrity and empathy and fosters such in others. Ability to adhere to all regulatory guidelines.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
Certification/Licensure:
Current Connecticut State License in good standing as a Registered Nurse.
Experience:
At least one year experience in home care or assisted living necessary. Leadership experience necessary.
