Overview
The demand for submarines has increased and Electric Boat is working to increase production to support a 2+1 a year delivery program. The maritime industrial base (MIB) needs to expand to support the increase in production. EB will be working with Non-Traditional Suppliers (NTS) to bring them into the MIB. This work will include guiding the NTS toward various qualifications (welding, NDT, SUBSAFE, etc.), development of a QMS program, determining components to offload to NTS’, and working with the NTS’ to innovate current processes.
The Program Rep will be responsible for day-to-day activities to support standing up NTS’. The selected candidate for this role must be able to directly communicate with internal customers including Design, Engineering, Program Offices, Finance, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Quality, and Planning to resolve items fabrication and qualification of components. The selected candidate will be expected to collaborate with Electric Boat, Newport News, NAVSEA, NTS’, and other organizations to achieve program and company objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the NTS pursuit of qualifications to perform SUBSAFE manufacturing work and development of a QMS program.
- Working with various departments at EB to stand up NTS’ and offload work to the NTS.
- Create and maintain metrics and cost reports.
- Track status of NTS development and work once in production.
- Work in a collaborative team environment with technical and support departments to identify problems and develop corrective actions including communication with Electric Boat leadership
- Ensure products are developed with the highest level of quality, with an emphasis on continuous improvement
- Travel to in AL, CA, MD, WI, OH, and other locations.
- Act on behalf of the Program Supervisor during absences from plant
Responsibilities

- Ability to communicate with all levels at Electric Boat and NAVSEA
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma / GED or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree or higher OR 5+ years' experience in shipbuilding industry
- 3+ years of Electric Boat, Navy, or related professional experience in manufacturing or shipbuilding industry
Preferred:
- Familiarity with SPARS, Oracle, Electronic Desktop, Power BI
- Experience working with government personnel (NAVSEA, SSGR, etc)
- Experience working with suppliers, purchasing, and strategic sourcing
- Familiarity with NDT, QA, manufacturing processes, workflow
- Project Management experience
- Experience working with contracts, planning, and program finance
