The Renaissance Asheville is a 278 room hotel located in the heart of downtown Asheville, with plenty of greenscapes and sweeping views of the Smoky Mountains. You’ll set the tables, serve the food, keep the event moving smoothly, and make sure every guest feels genuinely taken care of. It’s fast-paced, rewarding work where your attention to detail and warm demeanor make a real difference. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Attend pre-event roll call meetings to learn function details, including guest expectations, menu, and hotel service standards.
- Set up all banquet functions including table linens, silverware, glassware, and centerpieces to event specifications.
- Set up waiting stations and beverage stations prior to each event.
- Set up all perishable items for banquet service including bread, butter, and cream.
- Serve all food and beverages to banquet guests promptly, professionally, and in a friendly manner; replenish beverages as needed throughout the event.
- Clear all dishes, glassware, and linens at the conclusion of each course and at event end.
- Ensure proper storage of all equipment and perishable food items after each event.
- Maintain work areas in a clean, organized, and professional manner throughout the shift.
SKILLS & ABILITIES YOU BRING
- Self-starting personality with an even, steady disposition; able to stay focused and composed throughout a busy event shift.
- Professional appearance and demeanor maintained at all times during events.
- Physical ability to perform repetitive motions including lifting, bending, stooping, walking, pushing, and pulling; able to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. continuously through crowded spaces throughout the shift.
- Willingness to pitch in and support co-workers across tasks as needed — true team-player mindset.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisors accurately and promptly.
SCHEDULE & HOURS
This position is on-call, with schedules that may vary based on business need. Flexibility to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, may be required. Specific shift details will be discussed during the interview process.
