Job Description
Job Summary: The Shop Lead watches daily operations and coordinates a team of workers in a production and manufacturing environment. They assist management with hands-on tasks and training, and task workflow to meet project deadlines. This position reports to the Shop Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and adjust schedules to hit target deadlines.
- Checks completed work to ensure they align with company standards.
- Promotes safety regulations, provides guidance to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Work alongside the team to perform shop tasks as needed.
- Requests supplies to ensure control of consumables for the shift.
- Notify the tool room clerk when supplies are needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
- Experience in fabrications of large heavy gauge metal vessels
- Sensitivity and urgency to meet deadlines
- Knowledge and experience with a variety of welding techniques
- Knowledge of fitting processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
- Ability to be a part of a team and manage a team to accomplish tasks
- Knowledge of basic safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in English

Physical Requirements and other items to communicate:
The ability to lift 50 pounds or more. Ability to perform essential duties, which require the employee to stand regularly, walk and reach with hands and arms while operating various pieces of equipment. Specific visual abilities require close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to inspect quality of work and close measurements. Work in a high-pace manufacturing environment.
