Job Description

SqlDBM

SqlDBM is the enterprise data modeling platform built for collaborative teams. We give large-scale data organizations one platform to design schemas, govern metadata, and build a governed semantic layer their people and AI agents can trust, from first design to production. We're growing rapidly and looking for people to join our fun, remote-first startup.

About the role

SqlDBM is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a rapidly scaling SaaS company. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will own core general ledger work — journal entries, bank and account reconciliations, and month-end close support — while helping to maintain the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of our financial records under GAAP.

This is a hands-on role with room to grow. You will gain exposure to SaaS revenue and a modern finance systems stack, and take on increasing ownership as the accounting team grows.

What you'll do

  • Record and maintain the GL: prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reconcile accounts: perform monthly balance sheet and bank / credit card reconciliations (cash, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets) and resolve reconciling items.
  • Support the close: prepare entries and schedules to help meet the monthly, quarterly, and annual close deadlines set by the Controller.
  • Accounts payable & receivable: manage vendor bills and employee expense reports, manage customer invoicing, and cash collection.
  • Maintain schedules: keep fixed asset and prepaid expense schedules current, including depreciation and amortization entries.
  • Assist with SaaS revenue: help maintain revenue recognition and deferred revenue schedules for SaaS subscription contracts.
  • Compliance, audit & tax support: pull documentation and prepare schedules for sales tax filings, 1099s, and the annual audit and tax processes.
  • Ad hoc support: provide ad hoc analysis and reporting support to the Controller as needed.
  • Office coordination: schedule and liaise with vendors for snacks, mail pickup, and cleaning services.
  • This is a hybrid role will require travel to the office once a week or more if preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including full-cycle general ledger and month-end close.
  • Solid working knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles.
  • Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and maintaining the required support for month-end close.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred), and strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
  • Experience with Maxio (SaaS subscription billing and revenue recognition) and Ramp (corporate card, spend, and expense management), Claude a plus.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to consistently meet close deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment and collaborate effectively across time zones.
  • SaaS or subscription-based company experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA, CPA candidate, or progress toward certification a plus but not required.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary + performance-based incentives
  • Opportunity to work with some of the most influential data-driven organizations globally
  • Remote-first work environment
  • Work alongside industry leaders and a world-class product team at the forefront of data innovation
  • Comprehensive plan coverage for employees and covered dependents for medical, vision, dental, life, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and employer-sponsored 401(k)
  • Strong career growth trajectory in a rapidly scaling enterprise-first SaaS company
