Description:

The Project Manager coordinates multidisciplinary development activities involving training devices, simulators, aerospace/defense manufacturing, electromechanical systems, industrial automation, robotics, and advanced prototyping. The Project Manager reports directly to the Site Manager and ensures all project execution aligns with contract requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, methodologies, and applicable DoD and U.S. Air Force policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates integrated technical build efforts across mechanical fabrication, additive manufacturing, electrical/harness integration, and software/controls development.
  • Ensures stakeholder requirements are captured, validated, and incorporated into project baselines.
  • Applies project management processes including integration control, change coordination, and structured baseline management.
  • Develops and maintains the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and ensures synchronization across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and test activities.
  • Establishes and manages project scope, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and deliverables in accordance with contractual requirements and scope management principles.
  • Oversees cost performance, labor/material burn rates, and resource utilization; supports Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost control processes.
  • Maintains schedule baselines, performs variance analysis, and implements corrective actions consistent with PMP schedule management practices.
  • Identifies technical, integration, supplier, and schedule risks; maintains a formal risk register and executes mitigation strategies.
  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative risk assessments and integrates risk responses into the IMS and resource plans.
  • Ensures compliance with quality standards, configuration management requirements, and technical data package accuracy.
  • Develops and executes communication plans ensuring timely, accurate, and transparent reporting of schedule performance, risk posture, and technical progress.
  • Participates in design reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and integration readiness events.
  • Coordinates procurement of specialized components including electronics, sensors, displays, motion/actuation systems, computing hardware, and harnessing.
  • Manages supplier performance, lead times, subcontractor execution, and compliance with ITAR/EAR and DoD acquisition regulations.
  • Develops procurement strategies, evaluates vendor proposals, and ensures subcontractor deliverables align with Project requirements.
  • Manages engineering changes, requirement updates, workflows, and configuration impacts in accordance with contract and corporate standards.
  • Maintains configuration baselines and ensures traceability across technical and contractual artifacts.
Requirements:

Required Education and Experience

  • PMI PMP certification preferred; equivalent DoD or industry Project management experience accepted.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management.
  • 4+ years managing technical build projects involving training devices, aerospace manufacturing, electromechanical systems, industrial automation, robotics, or complex prototyping.
  • 3+ years of personnel management or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with PM tools (MS Project/Smartsheet), documentation systems (Excel/Sheets), and workflow platforms (Jira/Confluence or equivalent).

Security Requirements

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Must comply with all corporate and DoD Information Systems security policies and procedures.

Communication Skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a professional level.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical documentation, specifications, and engineering artifacts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for Government and contractor audiences.

Reasoning Ability & Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication.
  • Ability to calculate figures, percentages, and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand for extended periods, and climb stairs/ladders.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and crawl around equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish colors for indicators and component identification.
  • Ability to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking in shop and office environments.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Work Environment

  • Frequent work/coordination on shop floors and in technical build areas.
  • Exposure to electrical systems, moving mechanical assemblies, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and electromechanical motion systems.
