    • About the Role

    As an Associate Fraud Investigator, you'll play an important role in protecting our members and the Credit Union from fraud and identity theft. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in financial crimes, fraud prevention, and investigations. Working alongside experienced Fraud Investigators and our BSA team, you'll learn to identify suspicious activity, investigate potential fraud, and help strengthen the Credit Union's fraud prevention program while making a meaningful impact on member security.

    What You'll Do
  • Monitor fraud detection systems (Verafin, NICE Actimize, Keystone, and related platforms) to identify suspicious activity involving digital payments, debit and credit cards, ACH, wires, online banking, mobile deposits, and new account activity.
  • Conduct preliminary fraud investigations by researching account activity, gathering documentation, preparing case summaries, and escalating complex matters when appropriate.
  • Assist in identifying, documenting, and responding to Identity Theft Red Flags in accordance with the Credit Union's Identity Theft Prevention Program.
  • Collaborate with Fraud, BSA, Information Technology, Member Solutions, Deposit and Payment Operations, and Branch teams to investigate suspicious activity and protect member accounts.
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts by assisting with potential Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) referrals, audits, examinations, and internal investigations.
  • Compile fraud metrics, maintain investigation documentation, and prepare reports to support management and regulatory reporting.
  • Participate in testing fraud detection systems, validating monitoring rules, and supporting continuous process improvements.
  • Develop knowledge of fraud trends, payment systems, and regulations including Regulation E, BSA/AML, FACTA, NACHA, OFAC, and FFIEC guidance.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to build investigative knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

    • What We're Looking For
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 0-2 years of experience in fraud operations, financial services investigations, or a related field.
  • Previous customer service or financial institution experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with fraud monitoring platforms such as Verafin, NICE Actimize, Keystone, or similar systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document findings clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
