Commercial Bid Manager - Data Centre Projects

Commercial Bid Manager – Data Centre Projects

We are open to application from candidates based in Newcastle Upon Tyne or Whitstable, Kent.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Bid Manager to join our growing team delivering large-scale data centre projects across Europe.

This is a hybrid role, combining remote working with attendance at our offices and occasional travel to client, supplier, and project locations as required.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the commercial and tendering process for Commissioning, MEP, and CoHE services on mission-critical facilities. Working closely with senior leadership, operational teams, and technical specialists, you will be responsible for developing high-quality, commercially robust bid submissions that support the continued growth of the business across the European data centre market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, coordination, and submission of commercial bids and tender proposals for data centre and mission-critical projects.
  • Manage the end-to-end bid process, ensuring all submissions are compliant, commercially competitive, and delivered within client deadlines.
  • Review tender documentation, client requirements, contracts, specifications, and scopes of work to develop winning bid strategies.
  • Coordinate contributions from Business Unit Directors, Project Managers, Commissioning Managers, and technical subject matter experts.
  • Develop pricing strategies and commercial proposals in collaboration with operational and commercial teams.
  • Prepare tender clarifications, assumptions, qualifications, and supporting commercial documentation.
  • Identify and assess commercial risks, contractual obligations, and opportunities for value creation within tender submissions.
  • Support client engagement throughout the tender process, including presentations, negotiations, and post-tender clarifications.
  • Maintain and continuously improve bid management processes, templates, and submission standards.
  • Assist with pipeline management, budgeting, forecasting, and business development initiatives.
  • Support contract review and handover activities to operational teams following successful bid awards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Commercial Bid Manager, Bid Coordinator, Proposals Manager, or similar commercial role.
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex bids within construction, engineering, commissioning, or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse opportunities, identify risks, and develop competitive proposals.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
  • Experience reviewing contracts, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality professional submissions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, collaborative environment and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to engage with both technical and commercial teams.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within the data centre, mission-critical, commissioning, pharmaceutical, or critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of European construction and commissioning markets.
  • Familiarity with NEC, FIDIC, JCT, or similar contract forms.
  • Experience supporting international projects and multi-country tender submissions.
  • Understanding of commissioning, MEP services, and project delivery methodologies.
  • Exposure to Tier III and Tier IV data centre facilities.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on high-profile data centre developments across Europe.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Hybrid working arrangement, providing flexibility between home, office, and project locations.
  • Career progression within a rapidly growing mission-critical sector.
  • Collaborative, professional, and commercially focused working environment.
  • International project exposure and involvement in industry-leading projects.
  • The opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a leading commissioning and project delivery organisation.

If you are interested in joining a dynamic team delivering complex mission-critical projects and want to play a key role in securing and shaping major project opportunities, we would like to hear from you.
