Job Duties:
- Conducts physical and behavioral screening upon intake.
- Monitors medical stability and respond to emergent medical needs.
- Supports medication reconciliation, education, and administration per provider orders.
- Documents and communications of medical risk factors influencing crisis care decisions.
- Identifies and manages intoxication, withdrawal risk, or medication side effects.
- Conducts comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history.
- Consults with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
- Provides on-call crisis intervention during regular hours and serves as a backup to evening, weekend, and holidays.
- Documents client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures.
- Participates in daily staff facility meetings as needed.
- Takes the lead role or participates in providing medication administration and medical services on crisis facility site.
- Under the direction of the medication management provider develops, revises, maintains, and supervises crisis team psychopharmacologic and medical treatment and medication policies and procedures, evaluates and charts psychotropic medication effectiveness, complications, and side effects and arranges for required lab work according to protocol.
- Under the direction of the APRN manages pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
- In collaboration with the APRN, coordinates, schedules, and administers medical assessments of client physical health and treatment.
- Participates in treatment, rehabilitation, and support services.
- Provides ongoing assessment of clients’ mental illness symptoms and clients’ response to treatment while they are admitted to the facility.
- Provides symptom education to enable clients to identify their mental illness symptoms.
- Maintains RN license and all continuing education requirements.
- May conduct speaking presentations at community groups.
- Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse with one year of work experience in an inpatient or outpatient psychiatric setting is required.
- Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences, work in market jobs, and have access to help, adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services.
- Must possess the skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with people with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment.
- Crisis experience preferred.
Salary: $87,360.00 Annual + DOE
Shift: Monday-Friday day shift with supporting other nursing areas, and may fill in.
Differentials:
Weekday: (8:00am-5:00pm) $1.00 per hour
Weekend: (Friday from 10:00pm to Monday at 8:00am) $125 per day and $40.00 per hour if called into work
Holiday: $150 per day, and $60.00 if called into work
Christmas/Thanksgiving: $200 per day, and $60.00 per hour if called into work
