Apprentice - Network Operations in Rennes, Bretagne at Harmonic Inc

Duration : 1 to 3 years apprenticeship

Within the Network team, made up of two experienced engineers and a manager based in Cesson‑Sévigné (France), you will contribute to the operation and evolution of a network infrastructure supporting around ten sites worldwide.

In this context, we are looking for a motivated apprentice to join the team and actively contribute to the operational maintenance of the network infrastructure, incident management, as well as the optimization and automation of recurring tasks.

Supervised by network experts, you will work in a rich and diverse technical environment and gain exposure to a wide range of technologies, including Switching, Firewalls, Wi‑Fi, VLAN, SSL/IPSec VPNs, SD‑WAN, NOC, Azure, and authentication solutions.

What You Will Be Doing :

Operational Maintenance

• Ensure follow‑up and resolution of network incidents (Level 1 and Level 2).
• Manage incident and service request tickets using our ticketing system.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance activities (depending on the progress of the apprenticeship).

Run project management

• Contribute to the planning and execution of network‑related projects (deployments, updates, migrations).

• Support the team in the implementation of technical solutions (e.g. VLAN deployment, VPN configuration, firewall rule management).

Optimisation et automatisation

• Identify recurring tasks and propose solutions to optimize them (scripts, tools, procedures).

• Participate in process automation initiatives (e.g. Python scripts, Ansible, use of monitoring tools).

• Leverage AI tools to assist in data analysis and troubleshooting, report generation, or configuration optimization.

• Document procedures and configurations to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.

Collaboration et reporting

• Work closely with other Network Operations team members, the Network Architect, and other IT departments.
• Regularly report on task progress and incident status, both in writing and orally.
• Participate in technical meetings and project reviews.

What You Should Have :

• You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (2 to 5 years of higher education) in Networking, Telecommunications, or Computer Science (BTS, IUT, Bachelor’s degree, or Engineering school).

• You have a solid foundation in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, routing, switching) and a strong interest in network infrastructures.

• Curious and motivated, you have basic knowledge of technologies such as Wi‑Fi, VPNs (SSL/IPSec), SD‑WAN, cloud (Azure), and automation tools (Bash, Python, Ansible), and are eager to further develop your skills in these areas.

• You demonstrate autonomy, rigor, and agility, and are able to adapt to a demanding and constantly evolving technical environment.

• You enjoy working as part of a team and communicate effectively, particularly for technical discussions and reporting.

• You have a good level of professional English, allowing you to communicate both in writing and orally in an international context.
