Job Description
Primary Purpose of Position:
Under the general direction of the Director of Behavioral Health (BH) and the Senior Manager of Access and Navigation, the Per Diem Behavioral Health Administrative Assistant Support Specialist position involves scheduling appointments, tracking referrals, insurance verifications, data entry, management, and support of BH providers and other administrative operations of the BH department.

Essential Functions:
- Oversees, monitors, and responds to BH Workqueues, InBaskets, and the desktop.
- Calls all new BH referrals, verifies insurance, obtains authorizations, and schedules intake appointments.
- Keep track of patient referrals, maintain the waitlist, and ensure clients are scheduled.
- Record and report on referrals, census, and keep up to date with BH provider schedules
- Reschedules BH appts when providers are out sick.
- Create and enter new patient referrals to the BH provider panels
- Update and ensure accuracy of databases and contact lists
- Identifies areas requiring analysis and improvement regarding staffing, policies & procedures, and productivity
- Assists in the day-to-day communications of scheduling, documentation, and various other needs.
- Provide general support to patients, providers, and BH staff
- Attend bi-monthly BH department meetings
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or greater required
- Office experience preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/ Portuguese preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Self-motivated and self-directed to work within a team and/or work independently
- Extremely detail-oriented in both verifying one's own work as well as the work of others
- Good organizational and time management skills

As a health center, NSCH ensures that all employees comply with the annual requirements for vaccinations and health screenings.
