Job Description

Description:

Background check, US Citizenship, and a CAC are requirements for this position. Travel is 5%. Comtingent on contract award.

1. Provide support for depot level maintenance procedure development for ship dry dock and dockside availabilities.

2. Develop Maintenance Procedure Card (MPC) content using the Coast Guard’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS) Development Process Guide.

3. Develop Operational-Level MPCs at the comprehension level of a recent graduate from a rated technical school (A school).

4. Validate MPCs; The Coast Guard may determine that a MPC requires physical validation. Physical validation means that the MPC will be accomplished by a qualified maintenance activity. The employee may be required to support MPC validation wherever it occurs. The Contractor will observe the maintenance activity complete the MPC, document discrepancies, and revise the MPC.

5. Support the MPC feedback system following the CG-22 process.

6. Attend and actively participate in meetings related to the development, management, and execution of MPCs as applicable/assigned by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR)

7. Work within and help improve a quality control program that produces consistently high quality MPCs.

8. Prepare and deliver completed copies of documentation developed to the COR or as directed by the COR.

May be trained in MPC development by the Coast Guard if the Coast Guard determines that candidates require training to produce the product in the manner required.

9. May be required to periodically conduct ship checks in the course of MPC Development.

Requirements:

Proficiency in the following (in descending order of importance):

a. Technical experience in the operation, repair, and support of HM&E or Electronics equipment.

b. Good writing skills.

c. Experience interpreting and understanding technical documents such as; engineering drawings and Technical Publications.

d. Experience in Microsoft® Word©, Excel©, Power Point©, Access©, Paint® and Adobe® Acrobat® XI.

e. Proficient in independent research using the Worldwide Web.

f. Experience with the development of MPCs.

g. Knowledge of the Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) logistics support business tools and procedures.

Physical Job Requirements

1. Sitting: Ability to remain in a stationary seated position for extended periods.

2. Fine Motor Skills: Constant use of hands, fingers, and wrists to operate a keyboard, mouse, and phone.

3. Vision: Close visual focus to read documents and view computer screens.

Lifting: Occasional lifting or carrying of light items like files, laptops, or small boxes (under 25 pounds).

Mobility: Ability to traverse ship spaces to include climbing ladders and stairwells and traverse scuttles and hatches.

Education/Certification Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of engineering education (general engineering is acceptable) or 10 years of engineering background experience (marine Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical [HM&E] or Electronics) perferred
