Description:

DarkStar Intelligence seeking a highly motivated Senior Security Manager to lead and manage all aspects of our industrial security and program while supporting a growing portfolio of national security and defense-related contracts. This position serves as the senior security professional responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's industrial security and safeguarding programs. The designated Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Key Management Personnel (KMP) responsibilities will remain with the current FSO; however, this role will be responsible for executing and maturing the organization's security and safeguarding capabilities.

The ideal candidate is a proactive security professional with extensive experience administering security programs in accordance with U.S. Government and Department of Defense requirements. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while maintaining responsibility for security compliance, personnel security, and customer engagement across the organization.

Position Summary

The Facility Security Officer will serve as the primary security official responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining an effective security program in compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), DCSA guidance, and applicable government regulations.

This role requires a trusted advisor who can balance mission execution, risk management, and regulatory compliance while supporting employees, leadership, and customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the company's industrial security program, ensuring the protection, control, storage, transmission, reproduction, and destruction of classified information and materials in accordance with NISPOM, DCSA guidance, and customer requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safeguarding procedures and conduct periodic inspections of safeguarding practices, storage facilities, and classified holdings to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with DCSA and government security representatives.
  • Maintain facility clearance requirements and ensure ongoing compliance with NISPOM regulations.
  • Process and manage personnel security clearances, visit requests, continuous vetting, and classified access requirements.
  • Conduct security briefings, debriefings, and annual refresher training for employees.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standard operating processes.
  • Perform self-inspections, audits, and corrective action planning to ensure compliance readiness.
  • Advise leadership on security risks, mitigation strategies, and compliance obligations.
  • Support proposal efforts by providing security guidance and contract security requirements analysis.
  • Coordinate foreign travel reporting, insider threat requirements, and security awareness initiatives.
  • Maintain security records, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with program managers and corporate leadership to support mission and customer needs.
  • Work with company’s IT team to maintain IT and cybersecurity policies compliant with government standards, including CMMC and NIST 800-171.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial security, personnel security, or related security disciplines.
  • Experience serving as a Security Officer within a cleared contractor environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of NISPOM requirements, safeguarding standards, and DCSA procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing, managing, and maintaining classified information safeguarding programs, including secure storage, accountability, transmission, reproduction, and destruction of classified materials.
  • Experience managing personnel clearances through government security systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct security training, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Knowledge of CMMC, cybersecurity compliance, or corporate risk management programs.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities certification or equivalent security training.
  • Experience establishing or expanding a company's safeguarding capabilities to support new classified contracts, facility clearances, or classified operations.
  • Experience managing facility clearance and safeguarding requirements for possessing facilities and coordinating inspections with government security representatives.
  • Experience supporting IC, DoD, or national security customers.
  • Experience with classified contract administration and DD254 review.
  • Bachelor's degree

Salary Range

$60,000 - $90,000 per year This pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of specific compensation or salary.
