At ForwardEdge ASIC we specialize in best-in-class ASIC technology, 100% domestically traceable microelectronic solutions designed for performance in commercial, aerospace, defense, and security sectors. FEASIC operates a full-scale ASIC design shop with cross-disciplinary fluency between digital logic, analog/mixed-signal design, and physical layout, and sits at the intersection of advanced ASIC, FPGA, and microelectronics design.

We operate in a nimble, fast-paced environment of 80+ highly experienced and specialized engineers with over 25 years of ASIC/FPGA experience and more than 300 patents.

We currently have an opening for a Principal Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Architect on our Logic Design team. This position will define, design, develop and test DSP systems that are implemented in hardware and software for the defense, space and other industries. Will work closely with highly qualified and experienced digital logic design and DSP engineers on internal and external teams. Will also work closely with management, technical leadership, verification, analog design, physical design and architecture teams. This position provides technical leadership for DSP architecture and implementation decisions across the system, chip and block levels.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead System in package (SIP), chip- and block-level DSP architecture definition, including functional partitioning, interfaces, data flow, performance and implementation constraints.
• Provide technical support for customer discussions and business development, including solution concepts, proposal inputs and responses to technical questions.
• Lead technical trade studies to evaluate SIP designs/algorithms, hardware/software partitioning and ASIC/FPGA implementation options against SWAP to align customer needs.
• Provide leadership working with system architects to understand DSP and related functional requirements for all types of digital systems, sub-systems, and design blocks.
• Write detailed implementation plans and specifications for complex digital systems, sub-systems and design blocks.
• Understand and lead efforts utilizing AI Agentic flows and loops to accomplish overall architecture and design objectives
• Develop and model DSP algorithms using MATLAB and often Simulink
• Convert floating-point MATLAB models into fixed-point implementations suitable for hardware
• Translate algorithms into RTL using Verilog and/or VHDL
• Collaborate with system architects, ASIC/FPGA engineers, verification and validation teams
• Digital filters (FIR, IIR)FFT/IFFT; Multi-rate signal processing; Fixed-point arithmetic and quantization
• Work within a large group of ASIC design engineers to deliver digital ASIC designs for FPGA and ASIC products
• Additional duties as required

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in electrical or computer engineering.
• Required focus on digital design and computer architecture.
• 10+ years of experience in DSP engineering, including technical leadership of complex designs
• Experience defining DSP architectures and leading technical trade studies at the system, chip or subsystem level
• Experience un utilizing agentic AI agentic flows and loops
• Experienced in DSP capabilities for radar, GPS and EW systems
• Experience with RTL coding language
• Up to date with the latest technologies and trends in signal processing
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Clearance: This position requires a US government security clearance. As such, US citizenship is required.
