Description:

Job Purpose

The Parts Pricing/Claims Analyst is a foundational role within the Supply Chain team, responsible for owning Caterpillar claims accuracy, developing pricing and margin analysis, and building the groundwork for a structured customer discount strategy. This role acts as the dedicated point of contact for Caterpillar pricing programs, partners closely with the Supply Chain Manager and Go-To-Market teams (Resource Industries, Power and Energy, and Construction Industries), and is intended to grow in scope and strategic responsibility over time. As a member of the broader Supply Chain team, this position also supports general supply chain functions as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Claims and Reconciliation

  • Own Caterpillar claims end to end, including claims related to mis-shipped or incorrect parts against the shipping party.
  • Submit and manage Caterpillar marketing and credit memo claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing and posting.
  • Reconcile suspense accounts and monitor claims and vendor activity.

Profitability and Margin Analysis

  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of discounting to ensure profitability, monitoring return on discounting decisions.
  • Ensure credits owed back from Caterpillar are accurately tracked, claimed, and posted.
  • Support profitability reporting across go-to-market groups, including Resource Industries, Power and Energy, and Construction Industries.
  • Collaborate with the P&L team to understand dealership-wide profitability by parts, connecting pricing and discounting decisions to overall financial performance.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting team to ensure credit memos are posted timely and to the correct accounts.

Pricing Strategy Development

  • Assist in the development of a tiered customer discount structure based on annual customer spend.
  • Support the Supply Chain Manager in identifying applicable Caterpillar programs and pricing strategies for specific customers and deals.
  • Maintain and update customer accounts in the ERP with accurate discount levels and discount priority sequencing, working with the go-to-market teams and the Supply Chain Manager to audit and validate these changes.
  • Monitor and audit strategic customer discount agreements to ensure spend commitments and timelines promised by the customer or sales representative are actually being met, and recommend adjustments to discounts when they are not, protecting profitability for the dealership while maintaining fairness to the customer.
  • Begin tracking competitive market pricing to inform pricing recommendations over time.

Caterpillar Program Ownership

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Caterpillar pricing program changes and updates.
  • Ensure Caterpillar programs are accurately mapped and maintained within the ERP system.
  • Assist and facilitate the rollout of periodic Caterpillar pricing updates in coordination with the Supply Chain Manager and other affected departments.
  • Collaborate with counter advisors and service departments across multiple locations to support pricing accuracy and inventory alignment.
  • Lead quarterly business review touchpoints with the Caterpillar pricing group to discuss claims tracking, upcoming or recent program changes, and trends observed on our side, in order to build a stronger working relationship with Caterpillar pricing contacts.

General Supply Chain Support

  • As a member of the Supply Chain team, assist with additional supply chain related activities and projects as needed or as directed by the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Provide the Supply Chain Manager with a weekly update summarizing key findings and recommended actions across claims, profitability, and pricing strategy work.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Relevant education in supply chain management, business, finance, or a related field.

Specialized Knowledge

  • Intermediate knowledge of supply chain operations, vendor management, and inventory systems.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar dealer programs preferred; willingness and ability to become subject matter expert required.
  • Basic understanding of pricing and margin concepts, with interest in developing pricing strategy skills.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel or related analytical software.
  • Vendor management and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfort working with data analysis and translating findings into clear recommendations.

Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and improve operational efficiency through analysis and process optimization.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, particularly in managing claims accuracy and pricing analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and go-to-market teams, and to flex into broader supply chain support as business needs require.
