Job Description

VP, Brand & Communications

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP, Brand & Communications based in the United States.

This is a senior brand and communications leadership role responsible for shaping a unified brand across education, live entertainment, and commercial partnerships.
You will translate a mission centered on human connection, presence, attention, and digital wellbeing into a compelling and differentiated market narrative.
The role combines high-level brand strategy with hands-on creative, content, communications, and event execution.
You will lead a lean internal team while collaborating closely with sales, education, artist relations, and commercial stakeholders.
You will also oversee agencies, freelancers, and production partners, maintaining a consistently high creative and communications standard.
This is a highly visible player-coach opportunity for a builder who enjoys operating in an ambitious, fast-moving environment.
The successful leader will help strengthen brand equity, expand visibility, and create experiences that resonate across diverse audiences and channels.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the overarching brand platform, positioning, messaging, voice, and creative standards across multiple business segments, ensuring the organization presents one coherent and recognizable story.
  • Lead company-wide communications, including media and public relations, executive communications, thought leadership, and the external point of view on presence, attention, and digital wellbeing.
  • Personally write, edit, and shape high-impact communications and creative work across websites, campaigns, social media, executive materials, and other key brand touchpoints.
  • Develop and maintain scalable brand guidelines, voice-and-tone standards, creative systems, and processes that support consistent execution as the organization grows.
  • Direct creative and content development across campaigns, brand films, photography, design, editorial content, and social media, working closely with internal and external creative talent.
  • Own the digital and social presence from strategy and editorial planning through content creation, publishing, and performance refinement.
  • Establish and protect a high creative-quality bar, reviewing work from internal teams, agencies, freelancers, and production partners before launch.
  • Lead the brand experience across concerts, festivals, trade shows, school and district events, and partner activations, including hands-on participation at key events.
  • Partner with Sales, Education, and Artist Relations to develop event environments, booths, signage, materials, and activations that reinforce brand standards and support commercial objectives.
  • Identify high-impact launches, partnerships, cultural moments, and other opportunities that can increase brand visibility and influence efficiently.
  • Build and lead a lean internal creative and content/social team while managing external agencies, freelancers, designers, editors, and production partners.
  • Own the brand and communications budget, determining when capabilities should be developed internally versus supported through agencies or freelance specialists.
  • Contribute brand, communications, and market perspectives to broader marketing and company strategy as a member of the Marketing Leadership Team.
  • Act as a trusted internal brand guardian across Marketing, Sales, Product, Education, and other functions, promoting consistency while enabling teams to move quickly.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in brand, communications, creative, or related leadership roles, including responsibility for the brand and/or communications strategy of an entire business.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading teams and managing agencies, freelancers, and other external creative or communications partners.
  • Proven player-coach approach, with recent hands-on experience personally writing, editing, art-directing, or shaping creative work rather than operating solely as a strategic manager.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end brand building, such as brand platforms, rebrands, launches, campaigns, or other significant brand initiatives, including recent work personally authored or art-directed.
  • Experience in lifestyle, consumer, live entertainment, events, or culture-facing brands is strongly preferred; exposure to education markets or artist, label, or venue relationships is an advantage.
  • Strong strategic communication skills and the ability to build a cohesive brand narrative that can adapt to different audiences without losing clarity or distinctiveness.
  • Excellent creative judgment and strong visual and editorial taste, with the ability to brief, direct, challenge, and elevate designers, writers, agencies, and other creative partners.
  • Strong media instincts and news judgment, with the confidence and credibility to serve as a spokesperson or senior external representative when required.
  • Executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, board-level stakeholders, media, partners, and cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with lean resources and a high degree of personal ownership.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance long-term brand strategy with hands-on execution, moving comfortably between leadership discussions and detailed work such as headlines, presentations, campaigns, or event layouts.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high quality bar.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required for live events, trade shows, artist and venue meetings, and other company activities.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer and communicate effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Benefits
  • 100% employer-paid medical coverage option for employees, with access to 15+ plan types, including PPO, HMO, and HDHP options.
  • Dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance benefits.
  • Generous paid time off to support rest and recharge.
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • One week of paid company-wide holiday closure at the end of December, plus 11 additional nationally recognized holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Choice of preferred technology tools, including PC or Mac.
  • Hybrid and remote work options.
  • Catered lunch twice a week for hybrid employees.
