Job Description

Position Summary

The Batch Room Production Worker is a hands-on, floor-based role responsible for assisting Batch Room and Production Teams in the large-batch production of ColdSnap's product portfolio. This role works under the direction of the Batch Room Lead and Production Supervisor/Manager to help ensure the accurate, efficient, and compliant production of liquid mixes, and supports the canning line and other areas of the production floor as production needs require. This is a great role for someone who thrives in an active environment and has experience in the food industry.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Follow daily task assignments and direction from the Batch Room Lead and Production Supervisor/Manager
  • Monitor machines and appliances and adjust as needed to prepare for a production run
  • Comprehend written instructions and recipes from the company when putting together ingredients and starting a new batch
  • Measure and load raw ingredients into the mixer by following company recipes and industry standards
  • Assist the Batch Room Lead with weighing, measuring, and staging ingredients according to formulations and batch sheets
  • Support the operation of batching equipment, including mixing tanks, homogenizers, heat exchangers, and related systems, under the direction of the Batch Room Lead
  • Remove the finished product from the production line and push batches to the next step in the process for cooling, canning, or packaging
  • Assist with CIP (Clean-in-Place) cycles and other cleaning and sanitation procedures as directed by the Batch Room Lead
  • Verify that each raw ingredient and the finished product meet the quality standards of the company by observing sensory characteristics such as smell, taste, color, and appearance
  • Assist with sample collection, labeling, and submission for QA/QC testing as needed
  • Sanitize all materials and machinery parts at the end of each shift and clean the workspace by following company cleanliness standards
  • Learn food safety and quality assurance protocols at the instruction of the Food Safety Manager and Batch Room Lead, and put them into practice when working in the Batch Room
  • Communicate equipment issues, quality concerns, or process delays to the Batch Room Lead promptly
  • Assist on the canning line and in other areas of the production floor (e.g., packaging, labeling, staging) during periods of lower Batch Room activity, as directed by the Batch Room Lead or Production Supervisor
  • Crosstrain on canning and packaging line functions to support flexible staffing needs across the production floor

Qualifications

  • Completion of a high school diploma or GED program
  • Ability to follow all appropriate safety standards in food production
  • Knowledge of basic math and reading comprehension skills
  • Experience working in food production or in an industrial kitchen (preferred)
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices / basic GMPs (preferred)
  • Ability to take direction from and work collaboratively with the Batch Room Lead
  • Willingness to cross-train and support multiple areas of the production floor, including the canning line, as business needs require

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift and handle raw materials (e.g., 50 lb bags, 60 lb buckets)
