Electrical and Instrument Technician in Eureka, Nevada at McEwen Mining Inc

Position Overview:

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for performing electrical and instrumentation maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and rebuild activities to support safe and reliable operation of equipment and systems. This role ensures all work is completed in accordance with engineering standards, manufacturer recommendations, best practices, and established procedures. The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician works closely with maintenance and operations teams to diagnose issues, maintain critical electrical and control systems, and support continuous and efficient production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide technical-level input into annual primary maintenance plans developed by the Maintenance Planner.
- Conduct control element inspection and troubleshooting, repair and rebuild, replacement and installations, and report back on corrective actions taken and solutions developed.
- Conduct electrical and instrumentation repairs, rebuilds, replacements and installations according to engineering standards, best practices, and the manufacturer recommendation.
- Complete electrical work as required.
- Conduct commissioning and start up activities including instrument loop. inspection, loop check, configuration, calibration, testing, mechanical installation, stock testing of final control elements.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, test and document analytical equipment.
- Close all completed work orders when the job is completed, including completion comments.
- Support and maintain DCS, and PLCs based systems.
- Maintain a clean work environment free of hazards and submit work requests as needed.
- Create and maintain documentation and updates for plant specific maintenance tasks including calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Carry out routine administration and reporting.
- Take part in daily and weekly meetings including daily lineout meetings at the start of the shift, weekly safety meetings, weekly staff meetings.

- Actively support Health, Safety and Environmental Management systems and regulatory compliance.
- Adhere to safety-related best practices.
- Adhere to Industrial Hygiene and Environmental requirements and produce accurate documentation and reporting.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks and raise health and safety awareness.
- Identify opportunities for improvement across the department.
- Carry out other non-core duties as requested by the Process Manager, commensurate with skills, knowledge, and appropriate level of work complexity.

Qualifications:

- Technical electrical training/schooling preferred.
- At least 5 years relevant experience, preferably in the mining industry/heavy industrial environment.
- Knowledge of using electrical/ Instrumentation, fibre communication, AC and DC motors, reliability principals, and PLC.
- Practical knowledge of Motor Starters, MCCs, VFD, and 480 to 4160-volt three phase systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of all company policy and procedures relating to this area of work.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and requirements relevant to this area of work.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

- Climbing ladders/stairs, walking over uneven ground.
- Moderate to heavy lifting.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for long periods of time.
