Registerd Nurse/LPN in Gooding, Idaho at Walker Center for Alcoholism and Drug Addiction

Provide medical knowledge, support, and training to the Client Support Specialists. Assist the Medical Director, physicians, and mid-level provider. Assist in admission process by reviewing admission for medical exclusions. Provide quality assurance in medical related policy and charting documentation.

Walker Center is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse job classification is expected to work an assigned schedule ensuring coverage by medical staff and be available by phone to support Client Support Specialists. RN/LPN’s will cover the assigned medical and clinical meetings which may include morning staff meetings, medical QA and QA meetings, be able to deliver morning and afternoon group lectures, and have all documentation completed prior to the end of the day.

• Reviews medical charts for new provider orders and medication changes.
• Administers staff TB tests as requested.
• Triage and review medical needs of clients to determine if need to be seen by the physician.
• Train Client Support Specialists regarding compliance with medication administration including consistency with vitals, AWS, CIWAS, and COWS.
• Review medical “flags” upon admission or during inquiry process to approve admissions based on exclusion criteria.
• Take phone calls from Client Support Specialists if Director of Client Support Services is not available.
• Coordinate medical information and orders from the provider.
• Schedule clients for provider rounds.
• Complete end of withdrawal management summary.
• Review of MAR and medications after admission for accuracy.
• Weekly chart reviews of EMR documentation for accuracy of notes and effectively relay information that pertains to medical needs.
• Monthly chart review of documentation for withdrawal management clients.
• Coordinate insurance calls for detox and treatment plan development in ASAM Dimensions 1 & 2.
• Serve as member of the Quality Assurance Committee and report quarterly on indicators.
• Client education and staff point of care testing.
• Maintain a safe environment for clients and fellow staff.
• Transport patients when necessary

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and experienced with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment and detoxification processes preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with others.
• Ability to operate a variety of office equipment and machinery, including a computer, printer, photocopier, facsimile machine, and telephone.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, and repetitive motions.
• If in recovery from a Substance Use Disorder, must have a minimum of three (3) years of sobriety from substances of use.
• Must pass pre-hire requirements including a criminal background check, urinalysis (UA), and TB test.
• Must obtain CPR certification within ninety (90) days of hire.
