Job Description

Senior Software Engineer (Agentic Search) - Web Access Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Agentic Search) - Web Access Engineer based in France.

This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building the web access infrastructure that powers next-generation agentic search and AI systems. You will investigate how modern websites interact with browsers and turn those insights into reliable production technologies. The role combines browser internals, web protocols, automation, instrumentation, and distributed infrastructure at internet scale. You will work on systems handling complex, rapidly changing web environments and large volumes of requests. Your work will directly improve how AI agents access and understand web content efficiently and reliably. You will join a small, technically ambitious team where engineers have broad ownership and significant influence over the infrastructure they build.

Accountabilities:
  • Research and analyze how modern websites communicate with browsers throughout the complete request and navigation lifecycle.
  • Investigate browser fingerprinting, client verification mechanisms, and emerging web technologies to improve reliable access to web content.
  • Build browser infrastructure and tooling for instrumentation, debugging, observability, experimentation, and performance analysis.
  • Develop systems that translate browser and web research into robust production infrastructure operating at internet scale.
  • Analyze browser behavior, web application communication patterns, and client-side technologies to identify practical engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to infrastructure capable of supporting bursty workloads, large-scale request volumes, caching challenges, and multi-region environments.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of technical initiatives within a small team, from research and experimentation through production deployment and optimization.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience working on production backend, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
  • Strong expertise in browser technologies, including Chromium architecture, browser internals, lifecycle and navigation, and browser instrumentation.
  • Experience with Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) and browser automation frameworks such as Playwright, Puppeteer, Selenium, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of web platform technologies, including HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2, HTTP/3, TLS, DNS, and browser networking.
  • Solid knowledge of cookies, browser storage, caching, redirects, session management, JavaScript execution, and modern client-side rendering.
  • Understanding of resource loading, page lifecycle behavior, browser networking, and browser fingerprinting concepts.
  • Ability to investigate complex technical behavior, conduct experiments, and translate findings into production-ready systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-moving technical environment.
  • Experience with browser engines or browser infrastructure is a strong plus.
  • Experience reverse engineering browser or web application behavior is advantageous.
  • Experience building internet-scale distributed systems is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Go, C++, Rust, or Python is a plus.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure is beneficial.
  • Willingness to participate in coding interviews as part of the hiring process.

Benefits:

  • Full ownership of infrastructure and technical initiatives within a small engineering team.
  • Opportunity to solve complex internet-scale challenges involving bursty workloads, cache invalidation, multi-region infrastructure, and millions of daily requests.
  • Direct impact on infrastructure powering AI agents and next-generation agentic search systems.
  • AI-native engineering environment at the intersection of artificial intelligence, browsers, web infrastructure, and distributed systems.
  • Broad technical ownership rather than responsibility for only a small portion of the infrastructure.
