Job Description
The Logistics and Distribution Specialist coordinates inbound and outbound logistics activities including shipment scheduling, carrier communication, and distribution documentation. This role supports efficient material flow through accurate ERP logging, freight coordination, and strict adherence to 6S and safety standards in the shipping and receiving environment.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
FREIGHT COORDINATION & DOCUMENTATION:
• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, freight brokers, and customers to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
• Prepare and verify shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, delivery receipts, and freight claims.
• Schedule LTL, FTL, and parcel shipments, selecting appropriate carriers based on cost, service level, and urgency.
• Support compliance with DOT, hazmat, and all other applicable shipping and transportation regulations.
• Includes other duties as assigned that are relevant to the role and in support of company needs.
RECEIVING & ERP ACCURACY:
• Receive and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips; log receipts accurately in the ERP system.
• Track active shipments and resolve issues related to lost, damaged, or delayed freight in a timely manner.
• Maintain organized and accurate shipping and receiving records and documentation files.
• Assist with carrier performance tracking and freight cost analysis.
WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS & SAFETY:
• Communicate proactively with internal teams regarding delivery status, delays, and shipment discrepancies.
• Operate forklift and pallet jack to stage, load, and unload materials.
• Maintain the shipping and receiving area in accordance with 6S standards.
• Supports and models STARC Systems values and mission.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in logistics, shipping and receiving, or distribution.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and freight or carrier management tools.
• Knowledge of LTL and FTL freight processes, carrier selection, and rate coordination.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail in documentation.
• Effective communication skills with both internal teams and external logistics partners.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production and distribution environment.
• Dependable team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
This is a first shift position with hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The pay range for this position is $23.00 to $24.00 per hour.
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at STARC Systems.
