Senior Operations Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Operations Engineer in the United States.

This role is a high-impact technical position at the core of enterprise infrastructure reliability and modernization. You will support and evolve complex hybrid environments spanning on-premise systems and cloud-based platforms, ensuring stability for critical services that underpin business continuity. Acting as a key member of the DevOps and Infrastructure Operations team, you will work across legacy systems and modern infrastructure-as-code pipelines to improve scalability, performance, and resilience. The role combines hands-on engineering, operational support, and strategic modernization efforts, with a strong focus on automation and observability. You will also play a central role in documenting systems, refining deployment processes, and enabling smoother collaboration across engineering teams. This is a highly autonomous role suited for engineers who thrive in fast-paced, mission-critical environments and enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges.

Accountabilities:
  • Stabilize, support, and enhance legacy on-premise and cloud infrastructure to ensure continuous service availability and business continuity.
  • Develop, refactor, and maintain infrastructure-as-code pipelines and automation frameworks supporting deployments and system upgrades.
  • Monitor system performance across distributed environments, manage alerting systems, and respond to incidents and troubleshooting requests.
  • Improve observability, scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency across hybrid infrastructure ecosystems.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including runbooks, deployment procedures, and system knowledge bases.
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and operations teams to support releases, change management, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident response, diagnosis, and resolution across production environments.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of UNIX/Linux system administration experience in large-scale distributed environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • Proven ability to support and troubleshoot complex legacy and hybrid infrastructure systems.
  • Expertise in at least one scripting language (Bash, Perl, etc.) and one programming language (Python, Go, Ruby, etc.).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices (e.g., Jenkins, CodePipeline, Git, JFrog, Vagrant, Consul).
  • Strong knowledge of system virtualization, containerization, and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, AWS SSM/Config).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and/or Waterfall environments, and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong documentation, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.
  • U.S. work authorization required, with eligibility for public trust clearance.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary range between $117,500 and $170,000 USD.
  • Performance-based bonus eligibility and potential equity-based compensation (ESPP).
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and enhanced leave programs supporting work-life balance.
  • Fully remote work within the United States.
  • Opportunity to work on mission-critical, large-scale infrastructure systems.
  • Exposure to modern cloud technologies and enterprise DevOps transformation initiatives.
  • Career growth within a highly technical, innovation-driven environment.
