For our new manufacturing plant in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, we are looking for a Shipping & Receiving Clerk.

Requirements:

Strategic Objectives:

  • Ensures the efficient and accurate handling of all incoming and outgoing shipments for a cutting tool business. This role involves coordinating the receipt, inspection, storage, and dispatch of tools and materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring timely delivery to customers. The goal is to support operational efficiency, minimize errors, and uphold high standards of quality and safety throughout the shipping and receiving process.
  • Accurately process incoming and outgoing shipments, verifying quantities, quality, and documentation to ensure compliance with company standards and customer requirements.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (SAP) to update inventory records in real-time, ensuring data accuracy and supporting efficient stock management.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, freight carriers, and internal teams to optimize shipping schedules
  • Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory checks to maintain inventory accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
  • Ensure all tools and materials are properly labelled, stored, and organized
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment
  • Monitor and report on shipping and receiving performance metrics
  • Collaborate with other departments to manage special orders, returns, and urgent requests

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and verify the condition of incoming goods, checking for any damages, discrepancies, or defects, and promptly report issues to the appropriate department.
  • Prepare and pack outgoing orders, ensuring items are securely packaged and labelled correctly to meet shipping standards and customer specifications.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment to safely move, load, and unload materials within the warehouse.
  • Maintain detailed records of shipments and receipts, including bills of lading, packing lists, and invoices, to ensure proper documentation and traceability.
  • Assist in coordinating the return of defective or unwanted products to suppliers, including arranging transportation and completing required paperwork.
  • Support inventory management by organizing stock in designated warehouse locations and conducting periodic audits to identify shortages or overstocked items.
  • Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure that all outgoing products meet the company's quality standards before shipment.
  • Train new or temporary staff on warehouse processes, safety procedures, and equipment operation to maintain consistent performance and compliance.

Required Skills:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in shipping, crating, packaging and labelling
  • Practical knowledge with ERP’s (SAP or similar), shipping and inventory control systems and applications
  • Safe maneuverability practices
  • Good housekeeping
  • Time planning and coordination
