Job Summary:

The Dean of Students works closely with the Secondary Principal in student life, discipline, events and accountability. The Dean provides encouragement, mentoring, prayer, and support for students recognizing good behavior and addressing poor behavior.

Job Responsibilities:

Student Affairs

  • Establish strong relationships with students in grades 7-12 through personal interaction and empathetic care for each student and family.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the educational well-being of all students recognizing the unlimited potential of Christ to work in all areas of student development including physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and social.
  • Partner with the Secondary Principal and Jr. High team to support character development.
  • Provide effective Biblical leadership and support teachers with student discipline.
  • Enforce the student handbook expectations for student behavior with consistency.
  • Investigate student conduct concerns and implement disciplinary responses consistent with school policies and Biblical principles.
  • Maintain accurate records of student discipline, behavior interventions, and parent communications.
  • Monitor student behavior in hallways and before, during, and after school activities.
  • Monitor and follow up on student attendance, tardiness, and accountability concerns and collaborate with students, parents, and staff to support student success.
  • Clearly communicate all expectations, activities, and logistics through weekly teacher, student, and parent communication.
  • Provide proactive, supportive, and timely communication to parents regarding matters of student discipline.
  • Work with NWCS Security Team on matters of student safety and security.
  • Collaborate with the secondary leadership team in planning, implementation and supervision of secondary activities and events, including athletics.
  • Provide game administration for athletic events throughout the year.

Spiritual Leadership

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ exemplifying a lifestyle that brings honor and glory to God.
  • Demonstrate an active commitment to a Bible-believing church and to daily prayer and Bible reading.
  • Possess a walk with God which produces integrity, approachability, self-control, gentleness, respectability, humility, thoughtfulness, faithfulness, perseverance, and patience.
  • Lead Christian character development and mentoring efforts for all secondary students.
  • Meet with students individually to provide mentoring, encouragement, accountability, and spiritual guidance.

Visionary Leadership

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Northwest Christian Schools’ mission and vision.
  • Promote a positive, Christ-centered school culture that encourages student engagement, belonging, and spiritual growth.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Schools and administrative leadership team in seeking God’s wisdom and guidance for the future of NWCS.
  • Pursue continual growth and improvement in all areas of responsibility.

Culturally Aware Leadership

  • Proactively address and combat the non-productive cultural influences on today’s high school students in our culture and society.
  • Communicate and instruct students in the areas of character development, responsibility, and relationships.
  • Pursue quality professional growth for oneself and the high school staff.

Team Building Leadership

  • Recognize the crucial importance of secondary teachers and the secondary leadership team to the success of NWCS’ educational program.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the unity of the Body of Christ.
  • Cultivate a spirit of teamwork and collaboration among secondary faculty, staff and students.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents and community members.
  • Maintain professional relationships among faculty, staff, students, and parents consistent with the Matthew 18 principles.
  • Honor and respect staff, students, parents, and all individuals through Christ-centered interactions.

Other Details:

  • Compensation - $55,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Schedule - Academic school year, Monday-Friday (7:30am - 3:30pm)
  • Benefits - Eligible for benefits, including medical, dental and vision. Also eligible for tuition discount.
  • Time Off - Paid time off under the One Leave program (5 days for personal or sick).
  • Timeline - Position is anticipated to start in August 2026. Initial review of applicants will begin on June 22, 2026, and continue until the position is filled.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Master's degree in Education or related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as an effective instructor at a K-12 institution.
  • 1 year of proven experience in an educational leadership position.
  • Washington State Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Model a life of personal commitment to Jesus Christ by exemplifying a lifestyle that honors God and actively participating in a local, Bible-believing church. Must be willing to affirm and abide by the Schools’ Statement of Faith.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate accountability and discipline.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a leadership team and build strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and families.
  • Commitment to upholding the Christian values and mission of the school.
  • Must pass a National and Washington State Patrol background check.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
