This role plays a key part in managing third-party bodily injury claims arising from personal auto losses, ensuring fair, timely, and accurate resolution across multiple jurisdictions. You will be responsible for investigating liability, evaluating injury claims, and negotiating settlements while maintaining strong customer service standards. The position requires balancing analytical judgment with empathy, as you assess medical documentation, determine exposure, and work directly with claimants or attorneys. Operating within established guidelines, you will ensure compliance with best practices and fair claim handling standards. You will collaborate with internal teams, support litigation when needed, and contribute to maintaining high-quality claims documentation. This is a remote-friendly role offering exposure to complex, multi-state claims within a fast-paced insurance environment.
- Conduct timely investigations of bodily injury claims, including recorded statements, liability assessments, and coverage reviews.
- Evaluate claims exposure, establish and adjust reserves, and ensure accurate financial tracking throughout the claim lifecycle.
- Review medical documentation and negotiate fair settlements with claimants and/or legal representatives.
- Determine liability and comparative negligence while resolving disputes in accordance with policy and jurisdictional guidelines.
- Draft coverage correspondence and ensure clear communication with all relevant parties.
- Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities when applicable.
- Prepare and submit accurate large loss and management reports in a timely manner.
- Maintain complete, well-documented claim files and ensure adherence to internal claims handling standards.
- Support team members when needed and manage workload effectively to meet service expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience handling bodily injury and liability claims across multiple jurisdictions.
- Prior experience with litigation-related claims strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of personal auto insurance policies and claims handling practices.
- Ability to interpret medical records and evaluate injury severity and claim value.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Proficiency with MS Office and claims management systems.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Must hold appropriate claims adjuster licensing and be bondable as required.
