MA I in Grants, New Mexico at Cibola Hospital

The Medical Assistant I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting providers with patient care and treatment. This role focuses on patient intake, basic clinical support, and administrative assistance to ensure efficient clinic operations. The MA I will also provide back-up support to the receptionist as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct patient intake, including vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.
• Assist providers with examinations and minor procedures as requested.
• Perform CLIA-waived testing (e.g., dipstick urine, accu-check, pregnancy tests, etc.).
• Make phone calls to patients for follow-up, lab results, or appointment reminders.
• Schedule patient referrals and coordinate medical record requests.
• Ensure providers have necessary patient records, lab results, and diagnostic information prior to visits.
• Maintain exam rooms and order clinical supplies as needed.
• Provide back-up coverage for the receptionist when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS/CPR Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
• Ability to administer medications and vaccines by injection

Preferred:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
• Previous experience in a clinic or healthcare setting
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health records (EHR) systems
