Job Description

Description:

Join a Team That Keeps the World Moving!

What if your work helped connect North American hardwood products with customers around the world?! Northwest Hardwoods is a leading manufacturer of hardwood lumber in North America and a fully integrated global supplier serving the furniture, cabinet, molding, and millwork industries.

At Northwest Hardwoods (NWH), as an Account Manager, you’ll play an important role in accelerating growth within an assigned territory by identifying new business opportunities, expanding market share, and strengthening relationships with existing customers. You will leverage NWH's extensive hardwood product portfolio to deliver value-driven solutions that help customers achieve their business objectives.

This is a great opportunity for a consultative sales professional who thrives on developing new business, uncovering opportunities, negotiating successful outcomes, and consistently exceeding sales targets.

Why This Role Matters:

As an Account Manager, you will maximize all opportunities to capture new market share and lock in high-volume, long-term supply contracts. By walking active job sites and meeting face-to-face with general contractors and developers, you will relentlessly hunt for new business while building the deep, reliable trust required to turn first-time buyers into lifelong partners. This consistent field presence ensures NWH is the absolute first choice, driving immediate territory growth while securing steady, recurring revenue for years to come.

Requirements:

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive territory growth by prospecting, developing, and converting new business opportunities within targeted markets
  • Expand existing customer relationships by identifying opportunities for increased market share, cross-selling, and strategic account development
  • Develop and execute territory sales plans designed to achieve and exceed revenue, margin, and growth objectives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by understanding their business needs and recommending tailored hardwood lumber solutions
  • Conduct customer meetings, facility visits, and sales presentations to strengthen partnerships and uncover new opportunities
  • Negotiate pricing, product offerings, and commercial agreements to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure a best-in-class customer experience from quote through delivery
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and customer insights to identify emerging market opportunities and inform sales strategies
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting through effective account planning and territory management
  • Represent NWH with professionalism and integrity while exemplifying the company's commitment to Safety, People, Quality, Stewardship, and Innovation

What You Bring:
You’re more than just a salesperson - you’re a relationship builder, problem solver, and opportunity creator. You thrive on meeting new people, earning trust, and turning conversations into lasting partnerships.

Required:

  • High school diploma
  • Travel approximately 30% - 50% within an assigned territory
  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field preferred; equivalent

Preferred:

  • 4–5 years of successful outside sales experience, preferably within the hardwood lumber, building products, industrial distribution, or related industries
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business, grow existing accounts, and achieve aggressive sales goals
  • Proven success building strong customer relationships and influencing purchasing decisions at multiple organizational levels

You’ll Thrive Here If:

  • You take ownership of your territory and have an entrepreneurial mindset—you’re motivated to build, grow, and make an impact.
  • You’re a consultative seller who enjoys understanding customer needs and connecting them with the right solutions.
  • You’re confident in negotiating, influencing, and closing deals while creating win-win outcomes.
  • You’re a natural relationship builder who can connect with customers, partners, and internal teams (including executive-level decision-makers).
  • You’re an excellent communicator and presenter who knows how to build trust and communicate value.
  • You’re comfortable working with data and market trends and can turn insights into smart, actionable sales strategies.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and can confidently adjust when priorities shift.
  • You’re a collaborative team player who enjoys partnering across departments to deliver exceptional customer experience.
  • You’re results-driven, motivated, and competitive, with a strong sense of urgency and a passion for winning.
  • You bring knowledge of hardwood lumber or building products (strong plus, but not required).

What We Offer:

Northwest Hardwoods (NWH) provides a competitive benefits package that includes:

  • Competitive salary
  • Bonus opportunity based on company performance
  • Medical / Dental / Vision Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • Short-Term and Voluntary Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • 401k Retirement Saving with Company Match
  • Health Saving Account (HSA)
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays

Ready to Make an Impact?

If you’re an experienced sales professional who enjoys the thrill of the hunt, closing clients, and working with people around the world, we’d love to hear from you!
