Job Description

Description:

Manufacturing buyers at SEPAC will spend the majority of their time negotiating with manufacturers or service providers on prices of goods related to their industry. They make recommendations to upper management on possible purchases, monitoring trends and attempting to find the potential deals. Manufacturing buyers also attempt to find new products that might improve their company’s performance. In doing so, they generate ideas to keep the company under budget. At the very least, they must make sure the company does not overspend.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

· Experience in buying/procurement ideal.

· Maintain records of goods ordered and received.

· Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.

· Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.

· Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.

· Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.

· Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.

· Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.

· Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.

· Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.

· Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Experience leading lean and / or 5s transformation.
  • B.S. degree in Industrial or Business Management/ Engineering and one to two years purchasing, production planning, inventory control or related experience in a fabrication manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, quality control, and planning processes. Ability to understand manufacturing engineering processes and to read and interpret blueprints. Must possess good mathematical skills and the ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with an ERP system a plus
