This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Finance Officer based in United States.

This role serves as the primary in-country finance professional supporting day-to-day financial operations and financial administration.
You will oversee accounts payable and receivable, payroll coordination, vendor relationships, and financial documentation.
The position plays an important role in maintaining accurate coding, reporting, reconciliations, and financial controls across multiple entities.
You will work closely with senior operational leaders, external accounting providers, and finance colleagues across different countries and time zones.
The role also contributes to budgeting, grant reporting, procurement, audit preparation, and regulatory compliance.
As part of a globally distributed organization, you will help strengthen consistent finance processes while supporting international employment arrangements.
This is a remote position with a collaborative, mission-driven environment and opportunities for travel to team meetings and events.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice reviews, transaction processing, accurate coding, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor bank balances, payment activity, reconciliations, and financial records while coordinating with international finance colleagues on consistent coding and reporting.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for the external accounting and finance provider, coordinating payroll, payment processing, reconciliations, management reports, and employee leave records.
  • Support the establishment and ongoing financial management of Employer of Record arrangements for international employees, including invoice review, coding, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Assist with program, grant, and special project budgets while monitoring actual expenses against approved budgets and flagging significant variances.
  • Support grant financial reporting by preparing and reviewing financial data, expenditure reports, and related documentation.
  • Manage procurement activities and vendor relationships, including reviewing contracts for financial, compliance, and operational considerations.
  • Ensure procurement and vendor documentation follows established policies, approval requirements, and financial controls.
  • Coordinate annual audit preparation, information requests, and supporting documentation with internal teams and external accounting partners.
  • Support financial policies, regulatory compliance, and requirements related to charitable and deductible-gift-recipient status.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with grant-funded organizations and grant financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Xero and experience managing payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Experience working with or managing external financial, accounting, or employment service providers.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to review work accurately while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams, time zones, cultures, and levels of seniority.
  • A flexible, team-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively within a diverse global workforce.
  • Strong self-management skills, with the ability to work remotely, set priorities, meet objectives, and operate with limited direction.
  • Commitment to a mission focused on accelerating the transition toward a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy.
  • Permanent working rights in Australia are required according to the source position.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector, global or multi-entity finance, and Employer of Record arrangements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or other global accounting platforms is an advantage.
Benefits:
  • Full-time compensation of AUD $115,992–$139,980 base salary, plus superannuation.
  • Annual Leave, Personal/Carer’s Leave, Long Service Leave, and Paid Parental Leave.
  • Professional Development Allowance and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Home office setup stipend and coworking space stipend.
  • Monthly mobile phone allowance and company-provided technology equipment.
  • Remote work arrangement with some travel required for team retreats and in-person meetings.
  • Full-time schedule of 38 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate collaboration across international time zones.
  • Early morning and occasional evening work may be required, with time off provided elsewhere in the schedule to compensate.
  • Opportunities to work within a diverse, globally distributed team and contribute to a mission-driven organization.
