Solar Service Technician - Urgent Need! in RENO, Nevada at Sol-Up

Sol-Up is looking for a Solar Service Technician to join our Operations team, reporting to the Operations Manager. The Solar Service Technician will have experience in the solar industry and be able to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on solar panels and systems. This role involves working on rooftops, ground-mounted systems, and other installations, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and local codes. The ideal candidate will have skills in electrical work, experience with solar installations, and a passion for renewable energy.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance on solar panels and systems with attention to detail
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with solar panels and systems in a timely manner
• Repair or replace faulty components as needed
• Ensure that all work is completed safely and efficiently
• Communicate with customers with professionalism to provide updates on work progress and answer any questions they may have
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used
• Maintain a clean and organized work site, including work trucks, tools and equipment
• Attend training sessions on new products, installation methodology and safety as directed
• Use designated tools, systems, resources, and applications to manage various aspects of the job
• Represent Sol-Up and our brand with professionalism, integrity, and passion
• Strictly follows quality, safety and workplace behavior standards
• Reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager
• Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
• Complete other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications:

• Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least 3 years of electrical systems and repair experience, preferably in the solar industry
• Must have or be able to obtain an OSHA 10 certification
• Knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively in a team environment
• Strong interest in renewable energy and supporting our company’s high-quality standards
• Understanding of wire and conduit sizing and how to make adjustments for environmental factors
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Clean driving record and a valid state driver's license, reliable transportation and attendance
• Comfortable working at heights and on rooftops with proper safety apparatus
• Authorized to work in the United States

Physical Requirements

Must be able to:

• Work in extreme environments, e.g. hot sun, crawl spaces, ladders, roofs, etc.
• Climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and work on feet for extended periods of time
• Lift or carry up to 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
• Physically access all areas of the office and work environment with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external clients and contacts.
• Ability for prolonged periods of time to sit, walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
• Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
• Work indoors and outdoors, be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, heat, cold, noise, dust, fragrance aromas.

Compensation

$28 - $32 per hour, based on experience and abilities

Eligible for discretionary bonus opportunities, based on performance

Schedule

Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, weekends as needed, in the field
