Senior Credit Disputes Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Credit Disputes Specialist based in United States.

As a Senior Credit Disputes Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate and compliant consumer credit reporting.
You will investigate and resolve both direct and indirect credit disputes while working closely with credit reporting agencies and internal teams.
The role requires strong knowledge of credit bureau processes, e-Oscar, Metro 2 reporting, and applicable regulatory requirements.
You will analyze complex account information, transaction histories, and reporting data to identify discrepancies and determine appropriate resolutions.
Working in a digital-first environment, you will use technology and internal resources to resolve disputes efficiently and maintain high service levels.
This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the integrity of credit information and the customer experience within a fast-paced financial services environment.
The position is remote within the United States, with collaboration across teams operating on East and West Coast time zones.

Accountabilities
  • Investigate and resolve credit disputes by thoroughly reviewing account information, payment histories, transaction records, and other relevant documentation to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Manage both direct consumer disputes and indirect disputes received through e-Oscar, ensuring each case is researched, processed, and resolved within established service levels.
  • Act as a liaison between consumer reporting agencies, e-Oscar, and internal teams to resolve credit bureau issues and support responses to customer inquiries.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of account information to major credit reporting agencies and update account statuses when appropriate.
  • Apply knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and applicable credit reporting requirements when researching, documenting, and responding to disputes.
  • Identify errors, inconsistencies, or reporting discrepancies within complex credit files and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Use internal systems, technical resources, and available data effectively to support accurate investigations and efficient dispute resolution.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of investigations, decisions, and reporting actions while meeting required productivity, quality, and service-level expectations.
  • Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders to address recurring credit reporting issues and contribute to improved dispute resolution processes.
Requirements
  • 1–2 years of experience working with credit bureau reporting within a financial institution, with direct exposure to credit dispute resolution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of major credit reporting agencies and their processes, including hands-on experience with e-Oscar.
  • Familiarity with the Metro 2 reporting format and the requirements involved in furnishing consumer credit information.
  • Strong understanding of credit reporting regulations, particularly the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), with the ability to apply regulatory requirements to individual dispute cases.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on credit dispute resolution experience is preferred, particularly experience managing a broad range of dispute types.
  • Experience reviewing complex credit files, transaction histories, and account information to identify errors or inconsistencies is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while meeting deadlines, service levels, and quality standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, digital-first environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
  • Availability to work within the team’s East Coast or West Coast operating time zones.
