Position Summary:
The International Tax and Collections Manager reports to the Director of Student Financial Services in the Treasurers Office and is responsible for establishing sound business practices and internal controls within the area of student accounts receivable and collections. The International Tax and Collections Manager acts as the primary liaison between the Treasurers Office and the collection agencies, as well as working with students and supervising staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for establishing tax files for eligible international students, faculty, staff and vendors
- Calculate taxable amounts for various scholarships and generate, as well as file, 1042 and 1042S forms
- Stay abreast of all international tax laws and ensure the University is in compliance
- Maintain student, faculty, staff and vendor records within Glacier software
- Responsible for managing overall student and employee account collections
- Establish and monitor business practices and customer service processes within the collections area
- Works with collection agency representatives to manage ongoing collection efforts
- Submits outstanding collections to the State of Arkansas state income tax refund set-off program for potential recoveries
- Oversee the billing, collecting, and reconciling of all Perkins loan accounts
- Primary contact to build stores and products within the e-commerce site Marketplace
- Assists and counsels students as needed by phone or in person with account questions, payment plans, and other information
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of business and financial practices and internal controls. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Other:
Inform/advise the Chief Financial Officer, the Associate VC for Finance, and the Director of Student Financial Services on all matters of a financial, business, or administrative nature
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business related field
